Has anyone else out there applied to University of San Francisco Entry Level MSN CNL program for spring 2014?
@fromparkave:
Based on previous "spring cohorts," phone calls for those accepted to the program likely won't happen until the end of the first week in December. Who knows though--maybe sooner (doubtful bc of the Thanksgiving holiday next week), maybe later, but the end of the first week in December seems to be about the pattern regarding the time they begin the calls. Welcome to SF.
Thanks mailnursetobe! Your encouragement is greatly appreciated! I can't help but be a little anxious especially since the competition for nursing programs in this area has become increasingly fierce. I feel great about my letters of recommendation, experience & writing sample....I'm hoping USF feels the same :)
Hi, I am too a current student, just signed up at the advice of an applicant friend who also had questions about applying...
I will try to as much info as I have...
When you submit your application it says submitted, then once materials are verified it changes to compete and ready for reviews, I believe this is an ongoing process so applications are being completed/verified constantly and if you are missing something they will let you know via email, make sure your letters have been received...
It does take a while to hear back, my advice is to get busy while waiting, apply for financial aid, meet with a financial counselor, get your credit report if need be, so you know what you may qualify for if needed, save up, if you are accepted I believe you will need $500 deposit to save your spot fairly quickly, if you are not from the area start visiting apts to rent to get an idea what is out there and cost, many of my peers were waiting and waiting to hear back then when they got accepted they were very unprepared to start and were stressed having to do fin aid, apts, or just having the deposit money...so be prepared to take your spot if offered
hmm I think that is it, but let me know if you have any questions, once your application there is nothing you can do to hear faster
Hi all!
I have been casually stalking this link anxiously waiting for someone to post whether they had heard anything, I figured there might be others like me so I wanted to tell that this morning I received an acceptance letter into their program. I am SO excited as USF's MECNL is my first choice and I had applied once before and didn't get in. Just goes to show that persistence is key! I was anticipating a phone call so when I received the letter this morning I was a little taken back. Good luck to those who are still waiting to hear and congrats to those who also received a letter. Cohort 17! Can't wait!

@aa854.... I don't think it helps to compare yourself against another person as your situations are always different. I can't emphasize enough that your personal statement, along with your letters of recommendation, are the key to getting admitted. Grades and experience are going to be for the most part similar amongst everyone applying so it will basically come down to how you present yourself to the admissions committee. Hope this helps.
