University of San Francisco CNL Entry Masters

Published

Did anyone else apply to the University of San Francisco Entry Masters program for Summer '09? How do the notifications go out? Anyone accepted or rejected yet? I just submitted my app 2 weeks ago. Any info on this school including competitiveness would be helpful. I have 3.57 undergrad GPA, 4.0 science pre-reqs, clinical experience. Thanks!

Congratulations to all who have been accepted! :yeah:I'm currently in CNL Cohort 7 and finishing up my first semester at USF. Feel free to write me if you have any questions - I know I had lots when I started !!! :D

Hi Student Amy,

Thanks for offering to answer questions. I actually have a couple. How is the schedule? Do you have classes each day of the week? did you have a choice of times and days or were you automatically placed into the 1st semester classes? Were you able to work? Have you already started doing clinicals? if so how has it been? Sorry for asking so many questions I am so excited and I can't wait to meet my class mates. Well thanks for answering myquestions!

Sammy

Hey - I'll answer these questions for everyone to view. Let's see...

First semester you start off taking 15 units:

Health Assessment (includes Fundamentals)

Health Assessment Lab

Pathophysiology & Pharmacology

Instructional Systems Design

Epidemiology

There are no formal clinicals the first semester - just assessment lab. Each semester is different regarding the schedule. You will be taking classes with your Cohort only (~30 students). Typically you will be in class (on campus) anywhere from 3-4 days a week.

There are quite a few who have been working part-time (no fulltimers), but they have been drastically cutting back their hours as the time needed for studying/papers has been escalating quiet dramatically.

For any other questions, please contact me directly.

Amy :p

Hi Amy,

Thanks for answering all those questions:). Its good to know that we will be moving through with the cohort we start with. I was really curious about if I could still work, I currently work 20 hours/week and I am considering resigning from my position but I wanted to wait until after school starts to see if its something I might be able to handle?? I guess I will have to wait and see!

thanks again,

Sammy

Hi to everyone! I just found out about USF entry MSN program and cant wait to find more out about it. Im calling the school tomorrow morning - but can anyone tell me how long that program is?

Hi everyone,

I hope someone is still following this thread. I just wanted to get an idea of what the schedule is like for the CNL Entry Masters, and how long are the breaks between the semesters? I am applying to a few different schools, but am thinking of moving to the East Bay due to cost, and would like to know if it is even going to be possible for me to go to SF at all. Basically, how many days are you on campus per week? What hours are you in school? How long do the semesters run, and how much of a break between semesters? Thank you so much!

Hello everyone,

I applied to MSN-CNL for Spring 2010 at Cupertino campus. Has anyone else applied for the same program? Thanks

Hi,

I applied, too. Good luck!!

Thanks mfrancisco!

Good luck to you too!

Hi, I am applying to the USF entry level CNL program, do they count retake prerequisite classes against you? Thank you

hello.

i have a question about the usf application for those of you that applied. the application includes a question that asks, "other than your positions, describe briefly your professional and community activities. include any scholarly presentations or publications." how does this differ from the information provided in the resume/cv? should it be a couple paragraphs of more broad, "this is the kind of community work i do" information.

any input would be much appreciated!

I got a call from megan :) I'm in! It's the first and only program I've applied to so far. I'm not sure if I'm going yet but damn it feels good to get in. Good luck to everyone who did and didn't get in :)

Sandman,

Would you mind my asking what your stats were - GPA, pre-reqs, any clinical/volunteer experience? I'll be applying this year to USF and am curious about my odds. Thanks!
