University of San Francisco CNL Entry Masters

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Did anyone else apply to the University of San Francisco Entry Masters program for Summer '09? How do the notifications go out? Anyone accepted or rejected yet? I just submitted my app 2 weeks ago. Any info on this school including competitiveness would be helpful. I have 3.57 undergrad GPA, 4.0 science pre-reqs, clinical experience. Thanks!

Haha, hi houdini! Congrats to you! Are you still waiting for Samuel Merritt's response?

I got a rejection letter yesterday :( but that's ok. I got into my first choice. It was funny though, because the letter said I got rejected from the Spring session when I applied for the Summer session. Maybe I marked the wrong program??? Oh well...

Thanks :)

I'm still waiting to hear from Samuel Merritt, although after hearing that waitlist letters went out this past weekend and I'm still out of the loop, I expect a rejection letter will be on its way to me in the next few weeks. :zzzzz

:twocents: This whole admission thing is VERY arbitrary. I know someone who was accepted to Ivy League nursing programs but waitlisted at Samuel Merritt this year. Applicants are getting stronger and stronger, to the point that admissions staff are choosing from among the cream of the crop and it almost seems irrelevant which perfect candidate they choose, because all candidates are amazing.

well... received my letter from USF today. I was looking forward to moving home to the bay area, but I guess it will be another year here on the east coast. I'm going to be going to Univ. in Philadelphia - accelerated BSN - start in September. Best of luck to all of you who were admitted to USF - it is a great university, and I'm sure you will have a wonderful, rewarding experience there. To those of you who didnt make the cut (like me!), good luck wherever you choose to go. Don't give up - keep applying. :nurse:

I still haven't heard from USF, so I guess that means I've been rejected? :/

Not necessarily, Sarah... don't lose heart! If you are overseas it's possible they chose not to call, but admission packets were mailed late last week I believe. Not sure how long it takes to get post to you. Even if you're not accepted, you might be waitlisted -- as many programs do this -- and it's possible that those letters have not yet been mailed.

It's not over until it's over -- a hope I am clinging to.

Aww thanks, I figured they'd email me because I am overseas.

I guess I'll just wait for snail mail to get to me at some point this week or the next!

I haven't heard anything either... although my application was complete on March 5th (3 weeks late) because they didn't get 2 - yes two - rec letters that a teacher had mailed. I hand delivered the 3rd one finally. I called today and they said it takes 4 to 8 weeks to process applications... so... who knows? I might get rejected, or my application might be deferred until next year...or I could get in I guess. I'll be happy any way, even though rejection in any form is hard!!

Good luck everyone and I will let you know.

xoxo

To everyone attending USF for ME-CNL Summer '09 start, I've started a Facebook group for everyone to get to know one another ("University of San Francisco ME-CNL8"). Hope to see you there! :)

Hello Everyone,

Congratulations to those who were accepted. It must be really exciting. I plan on applying to the CNL program for Spring 2010.

May I ask, did you need a California CNA certification to get into the program? I started filling out the online application, and it asks for a CNA certification date. I never knew about this requirement before, and I'm really worried because I don't have the certification. I have everything else though, and I was ready to submit my application until I saw that.

Thank you for your input.

Hello,

You no longer need a CNA certificate to be eligible for the ME-CNL program. I don't have one and I'll be starting this May! Good luck to you!

Thanks Future FNP. Good luck in the program. Hopefully I will be joining it in January.

Hi Everyone! This is my first post on this site. I have always been reading everyone elses, but to scared to actually participate. Since I found out yesterday that I will be attending USF starting this summer, in the Clinical Nurse Leader (Non-nurse) MSN program, I thought this would be a great time to sign on and start meeting some of my future class mates and friends, as well as, participating in the interesting conversations that happen on this site. Is there anyone else who will be attending this particular program?? I would love to chat! I am so excited, I had given up hope that I would be going to school this year, and just when I was ready to move on I received this great news!

I'm still in shock, but ever so excited, and thankful to god for opening this door for me at this particular time in my life! =)
