University of San Francisco BSN Spring 2021

Published

Hello I didn't see any articles relating to USFCA's BSN program Sp 21 so I decided to make one myself. I applied for the Fall 2020 program but got an offer for Spring 2021 instead. I was wondering if anyone else is planning to apply/got offered an admission/ already attending USF for nursing. I would love to get acquainted with my future cohort/ current nursing students at USF.

Hi there! I got the same email! I didn’t even think that it meant necessarily waitlisted until you said that. I mean it would make sense that it’s waitlisted and not rejected. I think if we were rejected they would be straightforward and say that they were unable to offer us admission. I will keep you updated if I get anything else!! Praying we can both get in ?

It seems like it was a fancy way of them telling us we’re waitlisted LOL. Because it says our applications are still being considered, so it doesn’t make sense for it to be a rejection. I was thinking of reaching out to ask for clarification but I’m unsure of who to contact. I guess we should just wait and see until they update our status again.. I would have preferred them giving out a waitlist ranking or flat out saying we’re waitlisted but I’ll take what I can get?

Yeah that’s definitely what it seemed like LOL. I’m not sure who you would email either, maybe the lady who sent the email? Thankfully it’s only like two more weeks of waiting ? & yeah same, but I just got rejected from Samuel Merritt so this news was way better than that ?

I also got rejected from Samuel Merritt! I reapplied for fall 2021 but I’m confused on what my application seems to be missing. I tried to get feedback on it but was told they can’t give specifics and to just apply again. Who would have thought with over 200 hours of volunteer experience, 3.8 overall GPA, great LOR’s, and thoughtful responses to the statements that just wouldn’t be enough?. I’m just super confused on where to go from here tbh. Is this your first cycle applying? I’m going on my third round just thinking how many more times do I have to apply to places before I get in?

Congrats! Which school did you decide to go to?

thank you! I got into roseman university at henderson nevada so im gonna take it. it’s 16 months and tuition is way cheaper than USF. USF was my top choice at first tho

Congratulations!! I am a bit confused on my status maybe you can help?
I received an email that says “As students review their offers and make their decisions, we will continually assess the spaces available for the incoming class. While we were unable to make you an offer in this first round, I want to assure you that your application is still being given serious consideration, but we are on hold until we can confirm the spaces we have available in the class. Currently, our plan is to make additional offers of admission as space permits. I will provide another update on your application status no later than Thursday, December 10.”
So does this mean I’m waitlisted?? They didn’t come out and directly say it so I’m not sure if I got rejected or not. If anyone got a rejection, do they flat out tell you? Or did you get a similar email?

thank you! they gave us until december 8 to accept or reject the offer, so im assuming that time between december 8-10 is used to make waitlist decision.

Man you seem competitive too! I honestly think the biggest thing that they look for is healthcare experience. This is my first cycle that I am applying, and I figured I probably wouldn’t get in this time around. I really just wanted to apply and see what would happen if I did. If I don’t get into USF then I am going to do a CNA program in January and work all next year before reapplying. I think having healthcare experience makes you a more competitive applicant, but it is frustrating because they ask for all these other things that you have good stats in! Don’t give up yet though! All it takes is one acceptance. It’ll all be worth it in the end, that’s what I keep telling myself ? This whole process is extremely stressful though.

I was considering that but I thought CNA programs take 2 years to complete and only after that you can start working? Can you recommend a few I can look into?

CNA programs are only a couple months! I was interested in Quest Nursing School in Oakland, the program is only 4-6 weeks! They also have really good reviews.

There is also this one in Vallejo. I’m not sure where you’d commute from, so it might be a little far. But they also have great reviews! Day classes are less than a month long and night classes are about a month long.

Thanks, I'll look into these! Do you plan on reapplying to SMU for next fall? The application deadlines are so close that its not really possible to improve applications. The most we can do is change the personal statements. ?

You’re welcome! I’m not going to just because I think it’s a waste of my money. Like you, all of my stats were good, the only thing that my application lacked was healthcare experience. I know that’s the only reason I was not accepted. If I don’t get into USF then I am going to get my CNA and work all next year to get hours. I probably won’t reapply until fall 2022 to start. It’s a long way away, but I keep reminding myself that if I wait then I’ll have a better chance of being able to go to school in person. I would prefer to be in person for nursing school anyways and get my money’s worth ?

That makes sense! Part of me is hoping because they reinstated the testing requirement there won’t be as many apps so there are better odds. I didn’t know that paid healthcare experience would be weighed so heavily. I guess we’ll see. I hope you get off the list for USF!

Hello! First time posting on here, but I am just curious to see if anyone here applied to the Sacramento Campus for the VANAP?

I’m sure there will be less! I bet people won’t want to take the test online, so there will probably be less applicants. I hope there are and that you have a better chance! What would you do if you got into USF? Would you go or hold out on Samuel Merritt? SMU was my preferred because the program is shorter, but getting in anywhere would make me happy. I didn’t know that either until it was too late ? & Thank you! I hope you get in somewhere too!! ?
