University of San Francisco BSN Spring 2014

Published

Hello!

I know it's still early on in the game but I was wondering if anyone applied for USFs BSN program for spring 14? I just applied. IF so, do you mind sharing your GPA, Volunteer/Work experience? :)

i dont know if those are the facts, jc90 :confused: i got in for fall 2013 and we were told we wouldnt start clinicals until spring 2014. so if someone were to apply for fall 2014, they might even have a later starting date than spring 2015 for clinicals. when i applied for this spring 2014, i was told i'd be able to start clinicals in spring 2014 because thats what they told the cohort that got in for fall 2013. its really hard to get correct information when we're not hearing it from the top of the totem pole! just thought you should know :up:

@kayevengelista thanks for sharing. I'm not for sure but I based it on the information I was given. My friend got accepted for spring 12 but had to wait a whole year before starting clinicals as well. I was told that clinicals begins in Spring. So if you get in for fall 14, I can't imagine them not starting that following spring. 3 semester wait for USF students? That sounds pretty harsh. I was also told that hospitals are "kicking" out other students and making more room for USF students. ( of course money plays a role)

just called them again and they said they're sending out acceptance letters in waves, not all at once because they dont have the manpower to do it all at once. she said that you have two weeks from the day you receive the letter to do the intent to enroll/deposit. ahhhhh more waiting and i keep hearing different things!!

@kayevangelista, did u hear anything yet?

Hey guys,

I received my denial letter today. Hope this helps everyone! Congrats to everyone who got in!

I received my denial letter yesterday. Goes to show that even if you get accepted once before, doesn't necessarily mean you will again. Good luck to to those still waiting and kick ass in the program for those who have been accepted!

Back to the drawing board for me! Take care and Happy Holidays.

@chesrose thank you for sharing! Just got my acceptance letter on Friday...I can't wait to start!

For those who have been accepted,

Do you mind sharing your stats if you haven't already? I just want to prepare myself for the next app cycle. Thanks!

@Hailyxo

I got in with a 3.2 GPA...work on your letters of recommendation and personal statement!

@For those that got in:

Our nursing 2L clases will not start until spring 2015, did you all get that information? Which only leaves 2 classes of nursing 1L for the whole 2014 year?!?!

Is it weird that I still have not received any official/formation decision? No acceptance or rejection.

Is anyone still waiting for a response? I have not received anything. I just called and it says my application is still under review.

For those of you who didn't get in their first time, apply again! You'll have a better chance as a re-applicant. I didn't get in the first time I applied for Spring 2012 and I know plenty of people in my cohort who didn't get in the first time around. I became a CNA, got a job at a local facility, built up over 100+ hours as a volunteer, rewrote my admission essay explaining how much I have grown as a person in the year that went by, and had a close professor of mine write me a great letter of rec. I applied again for Spring 2013 and got in! I left SFSU after Fall 2012 and started at USF Spring 2013. And yes it is true that if you apply for admission for Spring semester you will have to wait 2 semesters before starting clinical rotations, but if you get accepted during the fall, you will most likely just wait 1 semester. I had all my pre-reqs done plus well over 120+ units (GEs and my backup major as philosophy) but I still had to wait the 2 semesters so I just picked up a double minor and finished up USF's general core requirements (like rhetoric, theology, literature). You are required to take these 2 one unit theory courses (Nursing in the Jesuit tradition and a seminar class) before moving on to your first clinical rotation as a sophomore 1. I stayed full time (12 units) each semester in order to receive financial aid, but I knew plenty of people who just took the 1 unit class (you have to take at least 1 in order to maintain status for the nursing program).
