I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!
As I said before, they are interviewing into late May.
Hi Syberian,
I wonder why they are interviewing so long. It kinda sucks because other school have already sent out their acceptance letters and I know I don't want to make a decision until I get U of R's letter. Have you applied to other schools? And how did you deal with this dilema if you have? I have just given a couple of deposits but it is getting costly .lol. I know this is a loaded response but that you for your input/advice.

Hey UR. I actually only applied to Rochester. There are no other ABSN programs near me, (unless I want to commute 2+ hours) and after speaking with people and researching the school, I really think it's a good fit for me. So the stakes for me are quite high (I have no backup, second choices for if I don't get in). As for deposits, I'm not sure? I feel bad if you send in a deposit and take a spot from someone else on the waitlist somewhere, but then I wonder how you can wait for U of R, which is so late. I honestly don't know what to do, though here's the best advice I have:
Take U of R out of the equation: which school would you want to go to then? You said you've sent in a "couple of deposits" - that seems pointless. Choose the ONE school you'd go to if you take U of R off the table, and send in a deposit for that one only. Why send it in for all the others?
Thanks syberian, i have turned down all of them except two and keep going back and forth between them..i am gonna make my selection soon..and let the school know...your advise is really great, i think not having u of r in the picture sort of narrow it down to a single school...i do think that u of r will be my first choice but now i am thinking about how i am going to afford it...one of the school pretty much gave me a free ride and that is the one i think i will choose if u of r does not accept me...how are you affording u of r? any suggestions would be great...i know of the minority scholarship at u of r for 10 000....i have saved some money but still have a bit of a gap even with a loan...
thank you for your advise and keep in touch

What is the minority scholarship for 10K?
As for payment - NY state resident's get 5K of TAP (which I haven't used yet) so there's 5K off. I will be (luckily) able to live at home, since I live close to U of R, so not really many living expenses. I really just will be paying for tuition, books, fees, etc and health insurance, so about..60K haha. So I'll get loans for the other 55K and if not possible I'll have family help me out.
On the plus side, I should be able to pay them back fairly quickly. I will live at home (again with no expenses) while I work as a nurse for the first few years and pretty much put my entire paycheck towards my loans. That will save me about 20K in interest! lol
Hey URhopeful,
I applied for AMPNN, and my profile is 3.4 general and 3.8 in science, have some hospital volunteer experience, and that's about it. What about you?
I also got accepted to MGH and I will have to choose between the two if anything.
Did anyone else apply to MGH? If not, where else did you guys apply/got accepted?

Hey guys,
I know it's been ages since I last posted. I just had to get on here and update myself. My interview is this Wednesday, I'm super excited and nervous. Has anyone interviewed with Karen Genett yet? If so just wondering about the types of questions she will be asking. Also, just wondering if anyone has been accepted yet ?

Good luck! No one's been accepted yet, I think they interview everyone first. I didn't interview with Karen, but maybe someone else on here did.
Again, good luck Ali89!
Hey Ali89,
Don't be nervous! I interviewed last week and it went well. I did not interview with the same person as you, but my interviewer was extremely personable and nice. I think they all probably have a list of general questions they need to ask. Be prepared to answer basic questions such as why do you want to be a nurse, why U of R, etc. You will do great!
Also, my interviewer told me that all interviews will be completer by the end of the semester and she thinks we should all hear by the end of may with a decision. Best of luck to everyone! :)
Hey everybody! so this is my first post just found this thread and I am very excited! I finally get to interact with people that are waiting on pins and needles just like me. I just received an email from UR saying that they have received over 400 applicants and they are only going to accept 56.. yikes! They also said that due to the high volume of applications they are not going to invite everybody for an interview.. I wonder what that means?? Does that mean no interview no acceptance??.. hmm.. Also, since they are really swamped they said they are going to start sending out decisions late June..
Up until that email i was doing fine but now I feel really anxious and nervous about the email. I don't know how I am going to make it waiting until the end of June.. my goodness have they no pity on us
Hey Yreyes,
End of June?! woah that's a long wait! I have to decide between U of R and MGH, if U of R will accept me, but i don't think i can wait that long, because i have to start moving somewhere in June.
I guess they are only interviewing potential students, so if you don't hear from them with an interview soon, you can just wait for a rejection letter in your mail by end of june. :-/
Anyway, good luck everyone!
