Hi everyone and anyone interested in applying for the U of R!
I applied for the Fall 2016 Cohort, and I noticed there hasn't been a thread started for it yet, so here I am.
Does anyone have an interview scheduled, and where are you all applying from?
Hey guys
Im apart of the May 2016 cohort and am here to answer any questions y'all got...I was on here prior to getting in and it was super helpful. All of the current students are extremely supportive and willing to provide any information you might need.
Concerning the waitlist; it depends on how many people they take from what I've heard in the past. They took quite a few for our cohort and yes sometimes people find out the week before classes start. It sucks but they all made it work; its not impossible.
I know this wait is torturing but it will be worth it
Hi, thank you for giving us the opportunity to ask questions. I would like to know how much the entire programme is; including the tuition, accommodation and other expenses. And also, is it possible to get a loan to cover the entire cost?
Nearly everyone gets private loans. If you search for the "Rochester September 2015" thread on here an individual explains it pretty well. It's a good deal of money but you're going into a great program in an amazing field. Make sure you look for loan providers that will give you the amount you need. Some are have specific options for accelerated programs because it's a good chunk of money for just one year. Traditional undergraduate loans have a max of maybe $45K which is barley half of what you need.
The estimated cost is way more than I think it should be when they factored in living expenses. (Tuition alone is over $60K).
If you look for the Facebook page L.I.F.T we will be posting some tips for yall soon!
Its advisable to create a Facebook page for your cohort as well. There you can start finding roommates etc
Good luck! I remember that time being called the "what the hell am I doing to myself" week, since there were exams and assignments and the final demo all in the same week. There'll be a few more of those. But you're going to look back at yourself and how stressed you were about this and laugh! I don't know if you're nervous, but just try and stay calm and really just chat (appropriately!) with your patient as you do the exam (don't forget to tell them what you're doing as you do it). If helps ease the nerves and it makes you look really confident and professional. My instructor was also amazed that during the subjective part, I had a conversation with my patient instead of rapid fire questions like an interrogation.
Thanks! We start final demos next week!

for those of you who are waitlisted, do you have to call/email? Or did they call you to inform you about your status?
