University of Pittsburgh CRNA Spring 2023

Updated:   Published

Sorta surprised that there is no post for this current application for Pitt, especially since the application deadline is a month away. Decided to make this thread for people looking to discuss the application process.

Anyone applying to Pitt? I made a last minute decision to apply just a few days ago, so I'm trying to get all of my things in order to submit on time, haha.

Specializes in ICU.

Congrats ?. Did you take it?

Thank you! I took the part time they offer because Pitt is my first choice :)

Specializes in Critical Care.

Question,

I just got an email (No phonecall) with an offer for part time provisional status.  Is this what other people with part time offers saw as well?

Did they say anything about completion of anything to be accepted? The part time people should have been called

I only got a call for a part time spot, no email

What did people’s e-mails look like that got accepted into the part time program? I got an email but no call and it was a little ambiguous.

I got a call last week but never an email. What did your email say?

I got rejected ?

This is what my email said for reference:

“Your application to the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing's DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) Nurse Anesthesia Program has been carefully considered. You were reviewed in competition with other applicants to the program. I regret to inform you that you have not been recommended for admission.”

“You may begin your studies on a part-time basis with provisional graduate status, changing to full-time in the Spring Term, 2023”

”A student admitted with Provisional Status must achieve and maintain a Quality Point Average (QPA) of 3.0 or above in courses required for the degree in order to be eligible for Full Graduate status by the completion of twelve credits, the equivalent of one full term.”

did anyone else get this?

this doesn’t seem like the original part time status they were talking about.  Just confused.  I got accepted into another program full time so probably not willing to risk that for this.

Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that your application to the DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) Nurse Anesthesia Major has received favorable action. You may begin your studies on a part-time basis with full graduate status, changing to full-time in the Spring Term, 2023. Questions relating to your program of study and registration should be discussed with your faculty advisor,  O'Donnell, John ([email protected]).  Please visit the New Student Guide for newly admitted students from the University of Pittsburgh's Office of the Registrar, and the  resources for students  link for important information to guide you through the admission process.

So is this just a normal full time role? Because it says full time in Spring of 2023. The part time stuff was confusing to me.

Just weigh your options. At the end, we all get the same piece of paper. 3.0 is a B average, so you can’t get less than that. ??‍♂️

I would def reach out for clarity. This is different than how they said it would be communicated.

This is the exact email I received and is totally different than what I expected or what was conveyed to us during our interviews.  Plus others stated they were called for part time status vs the people who just received this communication.  I’ll probably will tech out for clarification too.

did anyone that accepted part time status receive this email after their phone call?
