University of Pennsylvania FNP Applicants 2016

Hello everyone!

I just applied for the FNP program at Penn for Fall 2016 start!! I have found tons of threads on here for past cohorts but none for 2016 and I wanted to have a place we could all connect and discuss the application process!! Please feel free to post and let's hope for some acceptances!!!!!

Yeah definitely! When I asked admissions how long they said *at least* a month so I'll wait until mid April! Like I said my app went ready for review the 10th so I am really really hoping it comes soon! As part of our BSN curriculum we took a research class, I wonder if I would have to take the research class too?

Hopefully it does come sooner than expected! I think every person coming into the FNP program has to take the class because my BSN curriculum also had a research component. I did not know before hand though that we would have to take this course in the summer. I thought the whole program started in the fall.

@BSNtoFNP I did sign off on my plan of study, and I got my Penn Key a few weeks ago. I was surprised too on the short notice about this summer class. I was reading on a different forum on here that they did that so they could add additional spots for the FNP program. I have so many questions, I wish there was a way to talk outside of this site! @pammiexpeace, I submitted my application around the beginning of February and heard back in early March. Mine was Ready for Review from the beginning of February to when I got an email from Penn that a decision had been posted.

hmm okay, I am just going to have to wait then! ahhh the waiting is so hard. As soon as it went "ready for review" all the panic started. I really wish that I could have applied as early as you guys! I hope applying on March 10 doesn't hurt my chances!

It makes me nervous about a potential research class starting in May...I only graduate with my BSN on May 21st!

I really appreciate all the responses, this application process is so hard doing it all alone!

Have you heard anything about the program? I know its obv the number one program in the country for graduate nursing but I have been reading waaaaay too many blogs about Penn and I hear mixed reviews...im shocked!

@mar188 I still have to sign off on my plan of study. I never knew about the summer course until I saw the plan of study. I thought the program fully started in the fall. I got in contact with an advisor because the course conflicts with the spring semester since school is still in session, and she told me that the plan of study can be revised with the program director if you don't want to take it in the summer. Also, it's not offered in the second summer session. I wish there was a way to talk outside of this site too because I have so many questions too! The acceptance has caused a lot of questions because there is so much to figure out!

@pammiexpeace I have read mixed reviews too about the program, but people I have been talking to have said it's a great program, even though it's difficult, but it will prepare you a lot. I'm just going to believe the positive comments I've been hearing from people now lol. I have not heard anything else about the program, and I wish there was more information about what classes are like and what to expect. But all I have found are course descriptions really and graduate organizations that are offered at Penn.

WELL THE DAY IS HERE!!! I JUST GOT MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER!!!!!!

the letter says i have to let them know by April 1...that is so fricken close and I can't even think straight yet I am shaking so hard and I am so excited.

@pammiexpeace congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! In so happy for you and you're wait is over!!!!!!!!! The commitment date was really close, but if anything accept your decision and then go from there. How exciting though!!!!!
