University of Pennsylvania FNP Applicants 2016

Published

Hello everyone!

I just applied for the FNP program at Penn for Fall 2016 start!! I have found tons of threads on here for past cohorts but none for 2016 and I wanted to have a place we could all connect and discuss the application process!! Please feel free to post and let's hope for some acceptances!!!!!

anyone out there??

Hi!

I was just recently accepted into the FNP program at Penn! I was surprised when I heard back so soon. I had applied in early January and heard back earlier this month. Also, I didn't have to do an interview which I thought everyone was required too. Best of luck to you!!

THAT IS SO AMAZING BSNTOFNP!!! I AM THRILLED FOR YOU!!!!

That is awesome you found out already! I didnt apply until March 10th so I think I will have to wait a while before I hear back.

If you do not mind me asking, what were your stats/experience? Trying to gauge what Penn is looking for!

I only applied to Penn and the school I am currently finishing my BSN at, but I want Penn more than anything in the world!

Congrats again!!!

Thank you!! Hopefully you will find out soon enough. I would say latest May since my acceptance took about two months. Plus, you doing your BSN at Penn should give you an advantage!

My stats/experience were I had a 3.5 GPA, no work experience besides an after school tutor job for less than a year, and a lot of volunteer experience. My only hospital experience was my volunteer experience in various units and hospitals. Additionally, I was part of sigma theta tau, two other honor societies, and a community service program. I thought I wouldn't get in because I have no work experience only clinical experience from rotations.

Oh sorry, actually I am doing my BSN at Binghamton university in NY - so I only applied there for the graduate program AND Penn (sorry that wasn't very clear) :) but I want Penn more than anything so if I get in, I'm going!! My stats are actually around the same too! I have a 3.6 nursing GPA, externship experience, thousands of hours volunteering as an EMT, and an honors thesis completed. I also plan to be inducted into STT next month!! But no official experience as an RN but I wanted to go straight back

to school.

i am SO nervous to hear back!!!! My application currently reads "ready for review" so im imagining it'll be soon!

did yours change to under review at any point or it was ready for review and then a decision was posted?

Hi! I was also recently accepted to the FNP program full-time. I am going straight from BSN to the program with clinical experience only. I'm required to take a research class in May and was wondering if you have to do the same, and if so, were you able to register for it?

That is so awesome for you too!! Congrats! How did you hear back, I get so nervous every time my email sound goes off!! Any advice you could give about your application process would be great, given that you already got accepted. Would you mind sharing your stats as well? Only if you want to of course! Congrats again!!

Your stats are really good! I still think you have a leg up since you have more health related experience. Plus, you did an honor thesis which I feel like Penn would love. Congrats for getting inducted into STT next month!

I think you should hear back soon since it says the ready for review. Once mine said ready for review I heard back within two days. The whole process was two months because I had to send a transcript from a summer course I took which took awhile. My status did change online to ready for review. You then will receive an email that says a decision has been made, and you then have to sign back into your application portal to view your decision.

@mar188 Congrats on your acceptance!!! I have to do the research course this summer too. Did you get PennKey information? When I made one there is a new portal where you can sign in and get a lot of information. It says that we are supposed to contact the program advisor before registering. I emailed the general advisor email but haven't heard back yet. Did you sign off on your plan of study yet and if you did, did you receive any information in an email?

You're so nice hahaha you make me feel so much better about this!!!

mine went ready for review March 10th and I've been waiting since. I wish I could have applied as early as you! I just couldn't get everything in but I finally finished and it went ready for review like instantly! I really hope I get in, Ahhhhh so nervous! I can't wait to get that email!

It was a lengthy application process. It consumed most of my winter break lol. I hope you hear back soon!! Hopefully by mid April the latest because of the summer research course status in May then you'll need time to register and get set up in Penn's system.
