Hi All,
I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?
I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a question for those of you already in the program...do we need to have all the shots done by orientation or first day of school?
if not completed by orientation...is it going to affect our clinical placing?
Also are we all placed at the same clinical location? what clinical do we have 1st semester?
thank you all
I emailed one of the professors this morning about whether we had to have the titers and such done by orientation.......would it affect clinicals, etc. She said as long as we had them completed pior to clinicals then that would be fine. Doesn't have to be completed by orientation, but they do need to be turned in b4 clinicals...otherwise we can't participate in the clinical
Also, in reference to cheap titers and immunizations....go to the following website
http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/hhsa/programs/phs/immunization_branch/immunization_clinic_schedule.html
If you call around and find a place near you....they'll give you prices.
I am going to a Neighborhood Health Care in Escondido to get the Hep B, TB and MMR titer. I know the TB is about 9 or 12 bucks......not sure bout the titer yet :) Hope this helps
Someone from OU could probably explain it better...but Southwestern and SDSU are affiliated in the sense that they over-see the CA requirements for the BRN. OU is fully accredited and will be accepted by any master program. Sharp wouldn't just pick a school to partner with without looking into it fully (they sought out OU, that should count for something!) Also, I don't think OU would be considered a "Western" school because SD/Glendale are satelite programs. When I registered through the BSN for my license, we put the OU address in OK, not CA.
OU BSN program is a fully accredited program, but what does fully accredited mean? Also on the BRN, it shows that OU is in partnership with Southwestern College and SDSU. What does this exactly mean?
I am concerned that if I go to OU, and apply for my master's that some colleges will not accept my degree from OU because it is not accredited by WASC or another type of accreditation.
I emailed someone from USD who said if the school is based in the West, they require your BSN from a WASC and CCNE accredited school. She didn't know if OU had either.
First semester you will have basic med/surg 1. You will all be within Sharp but at different hospitals. You will need to start the Hep B series but it won't be complete for some time. The others you should have done or titers done before you start.

I talked about this in my post above. OU is in Oklahoma, therefore would not have WASC accreditation. :wink2:
OU is accredited by NLN. There are several other accreditations that a university may have. But, unfortunately OU does not seem to be accredited by WASC (as stated on their website). USD indicates the BSN needs to be from an accredited school, but it doesn't indicate what type of accreditations are required. If they require the school to be accredited by WASC, then they may not accept OU's BSN degree. You should talk to one of the counselors at OU to see if they are working on any additional accreditations.
