Hi everyone, I've been looking around to see if anyone has started a thread for UM's Spring 2018 FNP program so I decided to start one myself so that we can all be here for each other. Applications opened up Apr 1st and I have started on my personal statement but my GPA is a little low and I'm afraid i won't get accepted; I have met the 3.0 requirement but I am still a little unsure. Also, I graduated from my BSN program end of last year, recently passed my NCLEX and got a job in the ER. Although, experience is not a requirement does that lower my chances?Anyone knows how the application process works for UM or have any advice, tips that would be useful? Can't wait to hear from you all. :-)
I applied to the part-time program January 2018 through nursingcas. My application is now verified, and I called UM to find out when they will start interviewing applicants. The lady said they are now reviewing applications and will send an email once my application is reviewed. I don't think anyone was called yet for an interview as nursincas takes a while to verify applications. My GPA is 3.7 with 7 years of hospital experience. I hope we all get accepted to the program! Good luck to everyone! I will keep you guys informed once I hear anything new from the school.
I called UM today and I was reported that they started interviewing few applicants already. However, they are still reviewing applications until the deadline. We should check our emails for invitations to interviews or wait to receive our denial letter via mail if not selected for interviews. That's the only update I have so far. Good luck everyone!
Hi Nurseli,
Congrats on your interview, I am pretty sure you did well! I am hoping to get an invitation to interview soon! Would you mind telling me what clinical question was asked? Did you get an email or did you receive a phone call for the interview? When did you apply? My application was completed in June 28th but I am not sure if it was reviewed yet. I wish you good luck and keep us posted!
Hi dreamrn2017,
My application was revieved on June 6, they sent an email inviting me to the interveiew. The clinical questions were really straightforward. Since I have experience on neuro ICU, my questions were based on that. They are very professional. Don't be worry I always have hope. They will invite you as well!
Thanks for replying Nurseli! I guess I should be looking at my email for an invitation. I am a little bit nervous but I am always positive. Not knowing the process or time frame to get a call or an email is what causes me to be nervous at times. Thanks for sharing your info with me, and I am pretty sure you will get you acceptance letter soon!
