Hello,
I'm applying to the accelerated nursing program for Spring of 2017. I was wondering if any of you are applying also and where you are in the application process? I feel like I may have a started the application a little late and I'm wondering if that'll lower my chances of getting in.
Hi all! I'm also applying to the spring 2017 cohort. I still have to wait for NursingCAS to receive/verify all four (!!!!) of my transcripts and my recommender to complete the form. I am also planning on applying to the scholarships for ABSN students, but is there a separate application or documents for these? Thanks and good luck everyone!
Hi capechick12,
I, refreshing my email every 10 mins to see if nursingcas received my transcript Theres only one left to get to them and then they verify it. Hope yours comes in on time. I spoke with someone from admissions, very nice lady for got her name. She told me they have rolling admissions but they have several seats left to fill. Im just nervous that Nursingcas can take UP TO 4 WEEKS to verify the transcripts. But when I called nursingCAS, they told me that usually around this time they experience high volume but they are handling it and it might just take a week or so for them to verify s keeping my fingers crossed!! If you don't mind me asking where are you from? :)
Hi capechick! Haha, I also had 4 transcripts to verify, so you're not alone. It took nursingcas almost 2 weeks to receive them all, then 1 week to verify, and then a couple of days after that I received my canelink log-in info from UM.
Yup, there's a separate page with all the scholarship info. If you didn't receive an email from UM, here it is:
The University of Miami School of Nursing & Health Studies (SONHS) received a substantial donation from the *Helene Fuld Health Trust to fund three years of scholarships for eight full-time students per year enrolled in the SONHS's 1-Year Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) degree program. All applications submitted before the deadline will receive scholarship consideration.
We are also still accepting applications for the *University of Miami Health System (UHealth) & Miller School of Medicine Accelerated BSN Scholarship. This scholarship provides recipients with full tuition and a book stipend to complete the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami SONHS. Upon completing the ABSN program, scholarship recipients will be employed as a registered nurse (RN) at a University of Miami Health System site for three years. You are able to apply for this scholarship directly after submitting your NursingCAS application (visit scholarship link below).

FOR. REAL. I'm only interested in ABSN programs, and I could have applied for GA schools but either I missed the deadline to apply for the spring entry or I would have to take 2 additional classes which would have cost me an extra $3000 out of pocket. Not going to happen, nuh-uh. So as much as I'd like to stay in GA, I'm applying for out of state. Don't fancy waiting an additional year to apply for the next fall semester so I'm hoping to start in January somewhere. Preferably in the south!
Judging from the past since I've lurked through previous years prospective UM posts, there were only 3 chosen in summer 2013, and 17 for another year... though don't quote me on that. It really depends on the budget at that particular time.
