Hi fellow classmates! Heres a new thread that we can use to update each other about the program. There is also a Facebook page titled "UM Accelerated Nursing Program Summer 2012" If any questions, ask and please forward to anyone waiting for their status or to those new students that will be starting the program!

Congratulations Miami girl!! I was accepted a couple of weeks ago. Live in CA. Will be my first time in FL. Do you live in Miami? What is the accommodation like? Do you know anyone who would like a roommate?
Hi!! Yes I was born and raised in Miami, F.L. Miami is a city where theres a lot of culture & diversity. The weather is usually always warm & sunny and a great place to go to school! Apartments are usually a bit expensive but if you find a roommate Im sure splitting the cost can be affordable. Thats the price for living in a expensive city. I don't know anyone that is looking for a roommate. But if I do I will message you personally. I have a friend that is a real estate agent and she can gladly help you find a place. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask! :)
Thanks, really do appreciate. Will look at craigslist too over the next few weeks. I think it will be better to start making a few calls in April towards the start date. Perhaps you will let me know which areas to avoid( distance and safety wise). Sometimes with the internet one doesn't get a better picture of the area. For the real estate agent friend, please let me know if he has anyone with a room starting May. I guess with the summer break and most students moving home for the holiday, there will be more accommodation options from the landlords in the area. By the way, do you have any info on the approximate start date for our classes? Is it early, middle or late May? May be June?:)
Yes, areas that are close to school & the metro-rail are Coral Gables, Sunset, and South Miami. All great areas. The program begins May 16, 2012. Let me ask my friend if she has anything available for that month. Im sure she does but Ill have to check with her! :)

I am looking for a roommate! Anyone interested, Please let me know. :) I'll be down next Monday since I live in Delray to look at a few places. I wouldnt mind commuting either if it means keeping the cost of rent down. Let me know! :)
I got my package back in mid-January and it says the deposit must be postmarked by March 1st. Give admissions a call tomorrow to see if maybe your deadline is different from mine. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm glad I found this forum because it's comforting to know that there are other people out there going through the same thing I am.
Thank you Kamryn10! Much appreciated information. I did call admissions but noone was able to give me answer. I left an email to an advisor that can hopefully give me an answer tomorrow. If not Ill just leave work early tommorrow and figure it out then. Do you mind if I ask what type of information your package had? e.g; cost of books, scrubs, tuition, etc?
Just the basics. My congratulatory letter, brochure on the school, a list of the classes I took (which I thought was weird) the last page is where I saw the enrollment deposit. It's small print and easily overlooked. I wish they would send everything at once. I want to spend a day to get all the things in order.O I have a friend who is in the program now and she is kinda like my "spy" and I ask her EVERYTHING like the supplies that we will need and a test the first 2 weeks of the program.
That awesome! I also know a couple of people as well lol. Hopefully we'll be fine with the advice of our fellow nursing friends. Are you originally from Miami, F.L? Will you be commuting from a long distance?
