University of Miami Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

I am kind of early with this thread, but I am pretty excited about the possibility of starting nursing school in May! Anybody else out there considering UM's ABSN program for summer 15? Also, anybody that has gotten in the program if you don't mind sharing helpful information, please do! I will still have 3 outstanding pre-reqs that I am registered to take in Spring. My cum GPA & pre-req GPA without those last 3 classes will be a 3.3 for both. I think I have a fair chance, could be better! (and will be once I finish pre-reqs) But anyway, share your thoughts about this program if you are considering as well! & good luck :)

@risser Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'm also really anxious, haha! Is UM your top choice? Also, did they update your status on Canelink?

@Krysty0214 Yes UM is my top choice! It was also the only school I applied to for this semester too because I already live in Miami and the other schools only start for accelerated in the spring. So I'm definitely going to attend.

And no, they did not update my Canelink status. Hopefully it updates tomorrow because I can't pay my deposit because of it still saying application incomplete. They only give you two weeks to pay both deposits and background check/drug screen (one $300 to admissions and $500 to school of nursing; plus $167 for FL residents for background/drug check). I only have five days left to pay! Ahh! I will be calling tomorrow if Canelink doesn't update!

Does it say how recent the drug test/ background check needs to be? I got them both done a few months ago... was wondering if said anything pertaining to that.

@ Mandaaleiigh Neither the website you sign up for them at, nor the letter mentions if you've had one previously done. All they say is they require you sign up to do one within two weeks of the date the letter was sent out. You can google the website umbackcheck though. (Would give link but think it's against forum rules.) Hope that helps some.

Hi everyone, just wanted to updated you all. I received my acceptance in the mail today. I actually received an e-mail from someone at the SONHS asking if I received it, and sure enough it was in the mail today. I hope I hear of more acceptances on here soon. Now, I'm just waiting on the scholarship through the school of medicine.

@canesdan Did your Canelink update? Mine still hasn't even though I got my letter on Saturday. I called the help desk, they said it hopefully will be resolved by tomorrow. I can't pay my admissions fee because of it, were you able to (or have you tried yet?). I didn't get an e-mail from the nursing school. Congrats to you!!

Nope, mine has not updated either. Hopefully they will get that fixed. Congrats to you as well!

Got my letter the 21st as well!! It was the only school I applied to so I'm definitely going. I'm a little worried about our schedule- does anyone have a general idea of our schedule? I adopted a dog a few weeks ago, and she's older so doesn't need as much attention as a puppy, but she still needs a fair amount, and I'm worried I might never be around for her/might have to waste a ton of money on daycare or dogwalkers.

!!! I'm thinking about adopting an older dog as well in about a month and a half. It was a sick dog I fostered a while back, but he still hasn't been adopted:( (tough for those older dogs) I too am hesitant however depending on schedules
