University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey all, I've been waiting to see a UM ABSN 2018 thread pop up but figured I might as well start one. I submitted my application on March 17 and still waiting for NursingCAS to verify my transcripts. From what I've gathered through past threads, its a rolling admission so I'm hoping to hear back in the next few months! Curious if there's anybody else out there who has applied or planning on applying!

Hey!

Congrats to those of you who did get in! I would like to know, of those of you who did get in, did any one have pending pre-reqs? I just spoke to someone at admissions and was told the reason I did not get in was because I have a pending pre-req course. Bare in mind, their website says students can have 2-3 courses in progress during the application process.

Please let me know

Does anyone know if the final decisions have been made? I still have not received a message on Cranelink saying I got in or didn't get in.

or does anyone know when the final decisions will be made

Hey!

Please let me know

I had 2 pending prereqs, but I applied just 2 weeks after the application opened up in March

I had 2 pending pre recs as well! Probably because you would need a semester to complete those pre-recs. I was admitted in the summer, therefore I had all of fall to complete them

When I applied in June I had 3 pending prerequisites. I completed two of those by July and sent it to Admissions. I received my acceptance in August and I still have 1 pending preques.

So after much back and forth with the SON admission department, they have given me so many excuses as to why I was declined. The reason I have been so persistent about this is because I cannot conceive how I got into Johns Hopkins University but not UM. I had wanted to attend UM because of the money I would be saving on housing and such, as well as the fact that I did get my MPH from UM, but looks like it wasn't meant to be. I write this message because the University of Miami has been awful during the application process more specifically the school of nursing. For those of you reading who may have been denied acceptance, you should definitely look into why, especially if you exceed the minimum requirements for the program. I have gone ahead and addressed this issue with the Universities Provost office. By far this has been the worst experience ever! Best of luck to everyone who has been accepted not only with school but in your future endeavors.

They go off rolling admissions if you applied later than most people who already met the requirements and were accepted they will deny you. I know that sucks.

I'm sorry you were not accepted, But John Hopkins is awesome! Definitely something to be proud of. :)

Did you receive an email that you were declined? I have not received any decision from them. By now should I assume I didn't get in.

Hi, yes I received the email on my Canelink account. It would be in the message center. If you haven't heard back, give them a call.

I am still waiting on a response as well, but I don't have my hopes up considering most of the seats have to be filled by now. They will have to tell us one way or the other if we are accepted or declined but it doesn't hurt to call to check on your status! I got an email on Tuesday that said my application is being reviewed so I'm sure they are sending out more decisions very soon!

Hey can someone also add me to the Facebook page. I searched for it several times and can not find it on Facebook. My name is Nahika Monestime... Thank you in advance!
