University of Miami ABSN Summer 2020

Hello everyone!

I hope it's not too early to start a thread for University of Miami Summer 2020 ABSN cycle but I have already submitted my application and want to see who else has as well. It is my first time applying but I hope to get in because it seems like a top notch school. I would be relocating from California if so. Hopefully we can all stay updated here!

Yes, I got the email about my application on hold. I think because my application is not super competitive (low cumulative GPA) and they are looking at other applicants first. That's just a guess. I've looked through past threads and it seems that some people who have their apps 'on hold' eventually do get accepted, but it is a longer wait.

Anyway, I hope it helps to know that others got the same email and are along for the ride too.

If you look in earlier post I saw someone with a relatively low GPA but with a lot of experience get in so they're possibly looking for someone with a higher GPA to balance the program?? My assumptions though. I think we got this!!! ?

I didnt have a good GPA and i got accepted, I had quite diverse experience. a lot of people wont accept their admission, i would not rule it out if your GPA isnt great. it seems they like diversity

Hi Guys!

UM is my top school and I just applied for Spring 2021. For those accepted what were your stats like? I met the dean of admissions for the nursing school and he said that they really just look at GPA.

I think they look for more diverse class. From previous blog pages i've head people get in with 3.2-3.8 GPAs. I'm sure they accept the top GPA first and then the lower ones.

Has anyone gotten any emails regarding their acceptance? My application has been "completed" for three weeks now. I been checking my email 3 times a day ?

I was accepted with a 3.4 (both cumulative & prereq). I know people have been accepted with lower and higher so I think it just depends on your transcript overall, like what classes you’ve taken, the difficulty, etc.

Thanks, I have a 3.5 overall and 3.35 prereq. I'm hoping that they take into consideration I went to a large public school for undergrad which can sometimes be harder to get high GPAs at.

I think they will! I went to a very large public school in New York so they most likely take that into account. You have a good chance!

Sure! I had a 4.0 prerequisite GPA, 3.81 cumulative GPA, 88% on the TEAS!
