University of Miami ABSN Summer 2018

Published

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami to start in May 2018? I am just finishing up my application now and hoping to submit it in a week or two. I'd like to connect to some others also applying!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Mine switched to complete last friday, but I did not receive any email regarding status change. I just happened to go on and check it on canelink. I am hoping that they will send out something soon if complete means that they already have a decision made.

Has anyone gotten a denial back? I wonder if they send out acceptances first and then denials once they have admitted everyone.

same with me! Mine changed to "complete" yesterday. Confused why they wouldn't send out decisions if it's already made...

I just spoke with an advisor and she said 'complete' means they are now looking at your application. The undergrad committee has to meet again and make the admission decisions for the next batch. THEN they send those decisions to update in canelink. So basically it your status is complete, you will find out if you got in when the next batch of decisions goes out.

Now I'm confused..why would multiple girls I've spoken with at the front desk tell me "incomplete" is a good thing? THIS WAIT IS KILLING ME :((((((((((((((((

Anyone heard of anyone getting denied as yet?? and does complete tend to mean a

good or bad thing??

I feel like they don't send denials out until the very latest...just a guess. Im confused by this whole process...and ill explain why.

1. I call them and multiple girls tell me "incomplete" is a good thing.

2. They made it sound like if it said "complete" than your app has been reviewed.

So here is where I get confused. When they said those two statements, they made it sound like if it read "complete" and you hadn't heard back yet, then it is no good. I was then under the assumption that if it read "complete", you should have received an acceptance ASAP via canelink. But after reading a previous girls post on here, her app said "complete" for a couple of days until she got her acceptance...so then why say "incomplete" is a good thing?

Hi @acmarie. I hope this will clear up some of your confusion! My canelink said complete for over 3 weeks before I received my acceptance. When I called to ask how the process worked they said that it all depends on the University of Miami processing everything before they can send out the official decisions. So "complete" does not mean anything negative by any means! I believe it just simply means that the nursing committee has in fact reviewed your application. I hope you'll hear some positive news soon, good luck!!

Do you mind if I ask about your stats? Congrats on being accepted!

Or anyone...anyone who got accepted, can you tell us your stats? It would be really helpful for those that are still waiting.

Hey guys sorry for the late response. Cumulative GPA was 3.1-3.2 (yikes lol not proud of my younger days). Science/Pre-req GPA was 3.9. They also take into account work experience, volunteer work and your statement of purpose which is super nice! My first undergrad degree was in business. Hope this helps.

@acmarie

My cumulative GPA was a 3.7 and my science GPA was a 3.63. I had a couple months as a hospital office assistant and talked in my essay about my current job as a software developer. I talked less about the technical aspects of my job and more on the skills e.g. critical thinking that I gained as a developer.
