University of Maryland SON FNP Fall 2011

I'm new to this site so I apologize in advance if a thread for this has already started but I am looking for any applicants out there for the FNP program for Fall 2011 at University of Maryland's school of nursing. I'm totally stressing over this waiting because I work with this guy who applied last semester and was rejected and he's pretty much a genius, lol. Then I found some posts from Fall 2010 and everyone was rejected. How competitive is getting into this program. I'm starting to think I should really be thinking about what I will do if I don't get in. Anyone know what they are looking for in the application process other than a high GPA?

wonder if finding out this coming week will be a flop because of spring break?? hmmm....

Haha! I know. There's like no information on here about their program. Where are the current students?? Maybe there is only 10 lol. j/k. I attended one of those information sessions a month or so ago and while they said the number of slots varies from year to year and # of full-time/part-time students, I think the director said maybe 20ish. Although it is not stated on the website, they actually do require an interview which I also found out at the session. I know they are in the process of conducting those now.

Oh, good, some new information! Thanks! I wish I could have attended the info session. I'm glad they do interviews--if only they'd call me in for one...

I didn't think they did interviews. At any rate, no word of any kind yet. Attended an info session on the Acute/Trauma/Emergency NP program a few weeks ago, and they said that they admit about 20 people for that specialty.

Yea my status has not changed still says committee ready. I dont know! I'm having mixed feelings about this waiting process. I know that students from the BSN program were notified last week. I called this morning and I was told that decisions were still being made and that decisios should be finalized by the end of this month. Ok its almost the 22nd! I wish I had access to more info!

I understand completely how u feel...this is sort of my light at the end of the tunnel so I will be very disappointed if I don't get in, however I'm mentally prepared now that I have found what the odds are. I wish the end of April would come on and get here now so I can just move on with whatever the outcome is. Best of luck to you!
