University of Makati (UMAK, as they call it now). The former name was Pamantasan ng Lunsgod ng Makati (University of the City of Makati - english translation).

The curriculum of UMAK is compressed to seven semesters (2 of those are summers where you could do your RLE). If you are not a graduate of allied course (medical related courses), you can finished the course in 8 semester to 9 semester this is because you need to take BioChemistry and Anatomy. It really depends on the credited subject from your previous course.

The 2ndCourser (Regis as what they call it) course is specifically appropriate for working professional because the lecture schedule is at night (monday to friday, 6PM-9PM) and Saturday and Sunday (7am - 9pm).

UMAK is a state university but the BSN program is partly managed by STI.

Tuition fee is PHP700/unit, RLE is PHP36 per hour.

Specializes in NVICU, NSICU.

Please try calling their admissions office and ask for website if you're not in Manila. Or better yet visit them and take a look at the facilities. Ask for a copy of their handbook for the program. :)

I took the liberty of editing the title to the English name for the school. Otherwise I am worried that others will think that it is permitted to post in Tagalog and it is not.

Plus this way everyone knows what you are talking of. I have heard of UMAC, but not by its Tagalog name.

Thanks for your understanding. (I like to understand everything that is posted here.)

i would recommend visiting their admissions office, they are nice.

i just wish their Regis program offered regular 8-5pm M-F classes instead of weeknights and weekday classes. i wont be able to see my kids with that type of sched.

also, unlike a lot of other nursing schools, their rooms arent airconditioned (not that that is really important)....

1 school year in the Phils is 2 regular semesters and 1 summer semester (3 semesters in a school year). So, if you can finished the course in 9 semesters then it is exactly 3 school year. Let's just say you are going to start this June 2007

1st sem. -------> June 2007 - Oct 2007

2nd sem -------> Nov 2007 - Mar 2008

3rd sem -------> Apr 2008 - May 2008

4th sem. -------> June 2008 - Oct 2008

5th sem -------> Nov 2008 - Mar 2009

6th sem -------> Apr 2009 - May 2009

7th sem. -------> June 2009 - Oct 2009

8th sem -------> Nov 2009 - Mar 2010

9th sem -------> Apr 2010- May 2010

According to my friend (who is currently enrolled there), he will be finishing the course after the 7th semester. that's 2 years and 4 months of schooling.

Hi all,

I'm from Makati City and I'd like to pursue nursing...well, as a 2nd course at UMAK. I graduated with a Psychology degree. Anyway, I was wondering if during the clinicals, one has to be assigned to the provinces?...How true? I prefer the weekend classes though since I'm working full time too. If one has to be assigned somewhere far other than Metro Manila, then that's just too bad for me.

Yes , its true...and thats for 1 month , its either in Gen. Santos or in Olongapo..
