Hi, I have almost completed the RN to BSN program at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am in community health now and will take the capstone in January. The program is very organized. The moodle set up is very easy to navigate. The online library is easy to use and I have found almost all information I needed from the free online library. The moodle and each class is set up by weeks 1-7 each week you have approx 2 assignments due, all assignments have easy to follow written instruction along with a rubic. I never had to question the instructor for further instructions on any assignment. Each assignment has a due date. You usually have 1 quiz a week and the 2nd assignment could be a discussion board topic, research paper, article review, posters, make a video, power point assignments. The program is not easy, it is time consuming there is a lot of research and all of your work must be APA and cited as like any other program. I took one class at a time but school never interfered with my life's activities. I did apply at least 10 hrs per week sometimes more of reading, study, research or writing. The best part of this program is

1) No group work...you do all assignments on your own. Many of my friends complained they had group projects in their program. Its difficult working in groups over the internet.

2) you can take prerequisites at a local community college and they will accept them at any point prior to taking the capstone. So you are not forced to pay out of state tuition.

I would defiantly recommend this program. I got an A or B in every nursing class and I absolutely hate writing!!! I transferred in all of my prerequisites except English lit and I actually enjoyed that class the most all poems and stories were healthcare related. Oh I attempted chem at a local community college... it was extremely difficult I dropped mid way then took it through UofL and breezed by the instructor focused on what is needed in nursing not stuff you will never need to know no lab either. The most difficult and annoying class for me was the computer class many assignments and tedious work I felt like I failed that class but I passed anyway don't let this class frustrate you don't give up if this is the first class you take.

I was in your position two years ago searching for a program with no reviews to read. I hope this helps anyone interested. This is a well organized program and very doable for anyone willing to put in the effort. It is not easy!!! I did learn a lot and each class was interesting.

Good Luck.

I did not have a communication class and had to take human communication at ULL. It wasn't a bad class. I hate writing and public speaking. There was no public speaking or recording yourself doing a speech. There were several discussion postings and quizzes. You also had to do an outline for a speech.

Hi guys I'm in my first session at Lafayette. So far it's pretty straightforward. You get weekly quizzes and 3 papers for the semester. They use Moodle which is similar to Blackboard.

Did anyone here load up on more classes? I'm trying to take more than 6 credits during a semester, but I don't think the registration system lets me.

I ended changing my start date to January 11th. I have registered for classes but I see that since certain courses are given each 7-week semester, I must wait from Dec. 2016-May 2017 to take the final two nursing classes. I could have completed their program in 1 year but I guess 1 year and 7 months will have to do because they accepted a lot of my previous credits, leaving me with only 3 general education classes to take (which I plan to complete at my old college). I'm excited to start.

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.

I finally finished the program on Friday. I thought it was a good program and fair. I did learn a lot with respect to research, writing papers, and leadership aspects. The Capstone class was not difficult: I expected it to be really hard. I certainly recommend this program. My advice for any of the classes is to do any project or paper with the rubric at your side. They grade from the rubric, so as long as you address all of the points listed and follow APA style, you will receive a good grade. I managed to get all A's in my classes.

Good Luck to everyone starting out! It will go by faster than you realize.

I finished the program on December 4, 2015.

I highly recommend the program. It was totally doable. They were realistic with expectations of working nurses and didn't try and overload you with school work.

The Capstone was not bad.

There was one quiz.

2 discussion questions.

An abstract.

A letter to the facility.

The Capstone paper.

And a poster.

It was not bad and I found the teachers to be very fair. I'm glad I found this school. Good luck to all of you.

Hey all! I'm starting RN to BSN at ULL on May 2nd. This thread has been a wealth of knowledge for me to start planning out my next year with this program. Anyone able to share a syllabus for 354 so I can start reading the text and brainstorming for the papers? Email [email protected]

I'm in the ULL online RN to BSN program and wow the time is moving quickly! It's 7 week courses, so it's over before you know it. I love how they layout the courses. They have each week listed and all the readings and assignments listed under that week's heading. There is also an area in each week for students to ask any questions they have pertaining to that week's assignments.

The teachers and teacher assistants are very helpful and answer any questions you may have promptly. I am so happy to have found this school thanks to this website. I did end up being able to set up my schedule the way I wanted after requesting to have my course schedule moved around so that I would be done in a year, so yay for that! I have taken two courses at a time so far and I have done well. I am able to work ahead when I can because all the weeks are open for you to see what your readings and assignments are---so you can work ahead if you want to--but you cannot turn them in until their due date. ULL rocks.

I'm in the ULL RN to BSN program as well. So far I am loving it. Just finished first term (353/354). Has anyone taken the Theater 161 requirement (or did they substitute it for another class)?

I just applied for the fall semester. Not sure what I'm getting myself into! If anyone is here in the Lafayette area and interested in starting in the fall let'e get in touch! [email protected]

Do you have to be employed as an RN in order to attend the program?

Do you have to be employed as an RN in order to attend the program?

No, you do not. There were several in my most recent class who, like me, weren't currently employed as RNs.
