If you're in the NoVA area, George Mason University has a RN refresher course w/clinicals held 2-3 times a year. They've had to cancel these courses since the start of the pandemic but I believe it's returning this fall. https://chhs.gmu.edu/continuing-and-professional-education/RN-return-practice

I'm in the online RN-BSN program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and have had a great experience so far. I live overseas as well (temporarily) so having a no clinicals requirement was important when I researched programs (turns out the facility here couldn't accommodate had I needed the clinical component). There are nine core classes in the program, and each is 8 weeks long. Classes usually consist of quizzes, discussion forums, written assignments, and usually a final project or paper. I'm starting my last class next week (Capstone) and while relieved I'm almost done, am grateful for the opportunity to attend school -- worked well with my volunteer commitments and the frequent travel we were able to do. No, you do not. There were several in my most recent class who, like me, weren't currently employed as RNs.

I'm starting the program on 19 October. Any current or past students go into the program after a long break from academia and/or working in the nursing field? I'm excited to begin but a bit anxious and feel I'll be at a disadvantage.. haven't worked in the nursing field in over a decade, and I completed 1 of 2 pre-reqs last month after being away from college for years (did fine). Seems like most people here attended the RN-BSN program while working part- or full-time.
