Jsanz8 can you send me a private message responding the question I asked about the computer at the interview? Thanks

yoli79.....if you find out any info. regarding the interview can you fill me in as well....if possible.....

i'm trying to get as much informatio regarding the UHV program etc...etc...

thank you.

JSanz8 - What was your previous degree if you do not mind me asking?

As for everyone else? The reason for this is...my first degree is in business. I'm wondering if it would be a struggle versus someone who has a previous degree in biology?

I thought I answered the question about the computer interview. Nevertheless, if they do it the way they did it for us, you will go into a computer lab with other applicants and you will need to log into the UHV system so make sure you know your username and password. You will be given a prompt (question) that you will have 10 minutes to answer. I can't remember our specific prompt but it was something about going into the nursing profession or something like that.

Remember, this may totally change. I can only tell you what I experienced.

@ Jeanster - I have a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in eCommerce. If it makes you feel better, I received an invitation to join the Nursing Honor Society and I'm graduating Summa Cum Laude. Your previous degree, regardless of what it is, can only help you. Additionally, in case there are 'older' students out there that are worried about their age and changing careers...I'm the third oldest student in the program and I've done just fine. ;):anpom:

Jeanster.....

I have a Bachelors in Accounting......worked in the accounting/finance/IT for 10+ years.....when I went back to school for my nursing pre-reqs i realized that I struggled more in my accounting courses than in my nursing pre-reqs(4.0 in my science classes). With age comes wisdom.

JSanz 8 is right about your previous experience will only help you no matter what your background is.....

I too am no spring chicken but I 'm a little older and wiser. It all boils down to being focused and disciplined no matter what program/career you're going into.

Thanks JEPF. You made me feel better! :)

I will attend the UHV orientation with an open mind as well. I mean...I wouldn't have applied to the program if I didn't think I was capable of it.

I've just started to doubt myself lately. I just want to be sure I will get a good job when I get out. I'm just anxious about it all.

JSanz8, I know you mentioned that you got a Nursing Residency, does that mean that your hired for the job and you have to training (how many months long is the residency?) or will the hospital hire you after you complete your residency? Thanks again!

From JSanz8 former post

"Nursing residencies (internships) are paid nursing positions offered at some hospitals where they give you extensive training and a preceptor to work with instead of throwing you into a working environment cold turkey. Check the Methodist site for more information. I believe St. Lukes, MD Anderson and Memorial Hermann as well as the County have Graduate Nurse internship programs but they only take applications during certain times of the year."

Oh Texanchiq, just incase you missed the answer to your question, I just copied and pasted it up there from JSanz8's former post. Hope it helps.

JSanz8,

Hey! You mentioned that there were only 38 students from your class that will be taking the NCLEX. Why only 38? I thought the program accepted 60 students. The rest did not make it or what.....

THANks!!

Actually, we started with 45. They increased enrollment to 60 for 2011.

JSanz8 (Sorry for all the questions)

You said your class is 38 out of the 45. What happened to the 7?

Did you only attend one orientation or was there more than one if you get accepted?

If you attend the interview does that mean you've been accepted?
