University of Houston (UH) 2nd Degree BSN Spring 2023

Published

Hi everyone! I didn't see a thread for the Spring 2023 class for UH Sugarland's 2nd Degree program so thought I'd go ahead and start it off. I currently have a Bachelor's in Marketing from UH and would love to hear from others who are applying as well.

Best of luck!

There are two approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.

One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.

Two: Premium members may create a "club" by clicking on the Breakroom link in the Community tab at the top of this page. Then click on "Create A New Club" in the green bar at the top of the page, and follow instructions.

References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.

Thank you.

Hi everyone and congratulations! I just got an interview for Spring 2024. Would you say this means you are basically in? I would figure if they are already making you pay for stuff it wouldn't be for nothing. Also how is the program so far? I was hoping to keep my part time job coaching (less than 20 hours a month) but it's looking like I will fully have to commit to school. I also live on the north side, by greenspoint, an hour from sugarland and have experience dealing with rush hour traffic and don't really want to risk being late for things or spend too much time on the road that I could be using to study.... I was thinking I should move down there...

Hi. Congratulations on getting to the interview stage. Making it to the interview definitely does not mean you're guaranteed acceptance into the program. Paying for items ahead of time is  part of the nursing school process. I applied to multiple schools and there was a financial component for all prior to my acceptance. We do have some classmates that commute from far but like you said traffic can be unpredictable. Clinical placements are wide spread but mostly in Sugar Land, Katy, and the Med Center so on clinical days a long commute is difficult. This is not a program that can be completed while working. It is 20 credits in the Spring, Summer and fall. You get very few "breaks". If you have an "open" day in your week it is spent doing school work. Every weekend is spent doing school work. There is very little free time available to do anything outside of school work if you want to be successful in this program. I suggest attending the interview day as they will be able to answer more specific questions for you at that time.

Did you get a response to your interview day confirmation from the School?

Yes, at the end of august

Oh I meant, when they asked you to confirm attendance by emailing them, did they respond to your email?

I mean as long as you don't say anything too crazy, yeah you should be fine. You can def pick up shifts, but I don't think you should have a set schedule. I don't think its a smart idea. The point of this program is to finish in a year, so you need to really give it the time it needs or do it part time in 2 years. If you have the means, move, if you don't ,wake up early and go to sleep early.

Did anyone in the previous cohorts show up to the interview without a suit? I wasn't able to get one before coming in to town and was wondering if it would affect my chances

Hey I'm in the current cohort now. You'll be fine with nice slacks and button shirt.

Specializes in Nurse.

Has anyone received acceptance letter from UH for 2024?

Hey! I'm trying to decide on whether this would be a good fit. I can't find any post information about the program. Would anyone be so kind is giving me their perspective? Especially if you've completed the program?
thank you.
