  1. Hi. Congratulations on getting to the interview stage. Making it to the interview definitely does not mean you're guaranteed acceptance into the program. Paying for items ahead of time is part of the nursing school process. I applied to multiple schools and there was a financial component for all prior to my acceptance. We do have some classmates that commute from far but like you said traffic can be unpredictable. Clinical placements are wide spread but mostly in Sugar Land, Katy, and the Med Center so on clinical days a long commute is difficult. This is not a program that can be completed while working. It is 20 credits in the Spring, Summer and fall. You get very few "breaks". If you have an "open" day in your week it is spent doing school work. Every weekend is spent doing school work. There is very little free time available to do anything outside of school work if you want to be successful in this program. I suggest attending the interview day as they will be able to answer more specific questions for you at that time.
  2. Last year we got the email inviting us to interview on 8/25/23 and the interview was on 9/9/22. If they haven't sent the invitations out yet it should be soon.
  3. Hi current cohort! Congrats on being done in a few weeks!! I am looking at getting a new computer and am wondering if any of you used a 2-in-1 device like a Surface Pro X or if a laptop specifically is better for the program requirements. I’ve always used a Mac Book but am intrigued by the idea of a tablet/laptop 2-in-1.
  4. I think we have to wait until we receive that email on or after Oct. 3rd. I tried contacting identogo and they told me the school has to first give our names to the SBON who will then send it to identogo. Identogo will then contact us and to schedule our appointments.
  5. I am wondering the same thing. I am assuming we do not need to get a new drug screen since we did it at the interview day. I'm also wondering about #11 which has to be completed on blackboard & #14 since we signed the same form at the interview day.
  6. I had an appointment with my Dr. this morning and I did exactly this. I should get the titer blood work back by the end of the week and if I need any of the vaccinations I can get those scheduled through my provider, too. My Dr. wasn't phased by this request at all. I also got my flu and Tdap vaccinations today since I knew I needed those.
  7. I found my location on the AHA website. It was RCHS EMS Academy, I believe they have a few locations throughout the area.
  8. I just got my acceptance, too! Congratulations to everyone - can’t wait to meet y’all in January.
  9. Me too! I got my interview email at 5:23 pm on Thursday 8/25 so I’m hoping the acceptance emails go out at a similar time and we’ll know tonight maybe.
  10. Thank you for this! I did this and the identogo website kept giving me an error. I contacted identogo on the phone and they told me I have to first register with the BON and then the BON will contact identogo so I can go schedule my fingerprinting appointment. Has anyone else had to go through this procedure of first registering with the BON and then making the appointment with identogo? No I haven't heard on acceptance, but some of the people in my group on the interview day said they have already completed this step and it took a long time so I wanted to get the ball rolling so I don't miss the 12/1/22 deadline for submitting the information (assuming I get accepted to the program).
  11. Can anyone explain the steps to register with the Texas BON to get my blue card? I cannot for the life of me figure this out based on the information provided on the BON website.
