University of Houston 2nd Degree BSN Spring 2018

Published

Hi, everyone! I wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2018 application cycle since I didn't see one that was created yet. For those wondering, the deadline is August 15, 2017. Based on last admit's (Spring 2017) thread, applicants started hearing back with denials and acceptances around the second week of September. I look forward to sharing our experiences through this application process!

Does anyone have any insight on the program from any current or previous students? I know it's quite rigorous since it is condensed into 1 year (vs. 15 months at other accelerated second-degree BSN programs).

I have a B.S. in Psychology from UH Main. I'm currently taking my last class for the application (A&P 2 Lab), and I'm planning to take the TEAS in July. Good luck to all!! ;)

@nrvhy what email are you writing the UH nursing? I have a question for them!

It looks like I won't be joining y'all in the Spring 2018! I just took my TEAS again and even though I got better grade than before (83 overall) I got a 74.5 again in the science. Good luck to y'all!!

[email protected]. Congrats on doing better, overall, @kristennicole017! Definitely consider applying to TWU if you don't already plan to. Their minimum is 64% for the TEAS. Good luck!!

I would but I'm not interested in doing a 4 year program when I could do a 1 year program. Off to figure out my next step.

Ah gotcha. I think it's only 2 or little more than 2 years (with summer off) if you already have a previous bachelor degree, but good luck either way you choose! :)

Hi, I interested in applying for the program however my overall GPA is not 3.0, I was not always the best of students. My science GPA is above 3.0 and I did great on the TEAS. Has anyone heard of them accepting students with a below 3.0 GPA?

Where does it say we need a 75% in every section?

I have the same question, I emailed them. I'm just waiting on a response.

This is an excerpt from an email I received from them after I submitted by NursingCAS application:

"Exam – Request TEAS VI scores be sent directly to UH College of Nursing, or you may upload your scores in the Document Upload” section in NursingCAS. You may register to take the examination by contacting ATI. We are looking at multiple areas ~ Science, Reading Comprehension, and your overall composite. The minimum score required is 75% in each section. You are only allowed to take the exam twice. Good Luck!"

Hello, what class can be used for the Writing in the Disciplines requirement?

i had a lower score than you in Science. Im still trying my luck and i already applied. if i remember the lady said score 75 to be competitive. i believe my other scores would hopefully balance

Maybe I'm just not seeing it but where are we supposed to upload our resumes for the application? I was looking on UH's website and they never mention it there or on NursingCAS. Or are we supposed to fill out the "experiences" section in supporting materials on NursingCAS?
