Hi! Just thought I would create a new topic for all of us applying to UCLA's MECN program this year ?
Hi everyone, I also applied for Fall 2023 and super anxious to hear back! Good luck to everyone who applied!
I noticed there were some information regarding the statement of purpose that didn't match up. On the SON admission website, it said that the SOP can be up to 1000 words, but the information session packet said it can be up to 500 words (See screenshots). Just wondering if anyone else noticed that, and if you did, how did you go about it?

Hi! When I went to the info session I remember they mentioned that it is 1000 words, so that is what I did I believe :)) Also happy February everyone! Decisions can come out any day now :00
I found myself falling down the rabbit hole as each day goes on LOL. I was reading up on past chains just to get a feel for when we may hear anything back. I read that some people saw a university ID on their application in February. Does anyone know if we were assigned one when we submitted our applications?
@n.rin yes you are assigned one. You should see it on the account where you submitted the application. Our acceptance letters came out the second Friday of the month. That was for the first wave of acceptance. If you don't see an email along with everyone that does not mean you're not accepted it could just mean you're part of the second wave of acceptance. Hope this eases the anxiety. Best of luck!

I just checked my portal and I have both an university ID and an application number. But I did not attend UCLA for undergrad. If that helps with your analysis of something! Haha
@Nervousnursey hi! Yes I received an email personally addressed to me the second Friday of the month around 8-9am . The top portion of the email didn't necessarily say Congratulations so I didn't know what to think. It wasn't until I scrolled all the way at the bottom that it said "congratulations …”

Thanks for your insight! I truly appreciate it. Is anyone else having trouble eating and sleeping since THE week is here now? I am terrified for sure, but definitely need some closure in my life.

Hiii!
I have research experience, and I got the position by basically emailing the professors that were doing research at that time. They usually respond after a couple of days. Your friend can send them a nice email, introducing themselves and why they are interested in their research and also asking if they could meet during professors' office hours. I would highly suggest reading their publications and also preparing questions prior to that meeting to show interest. This is exactly how I got in. Hope this helps ?
