Hi! Just thought I would create a new topic for all of us applying to UCLA's MECN program this year ?

Because we have not heard about anyone being accepted into this years cohort [I think this forum will blow up the moment there is even a single notice], we can hold on to a little bit of hope.

Given that we have not heard back compared to prior years, I wonder if this means that there were more applicants this year resulting in a longer waiting period ?

That is what I was thinking too ? but either way, we put our best foot forward with our application and I'm sure we will hear good news soon! ??

Hi all!

MECN 1 here :) I totally remember how stressed I was at this time waiting for acceptances and I'm thinking of you all during this time! Happy to answer any Q's you may have. Good luck and I hope to see many of you this upcoming fall!

I hope we hear back today!! I don't want to wait anymore?

I have a hunch about what is going on. Did you guys remember that the UCLA graduate app opened on 9/14/22 instead of 9/1/22 due to covid reason? I think because of this two weeks delay, we will get our decisions two weeks late as well. I could be wrong but I think the admission might need more time to process the app.

Hi guys I'm new to the forum, been patiently waiting and reading the posts dealing with the stress and anxiety with you guys. I thought they would have released the decisions today but I have a feeling it's next week because it's already late in the day

Hi! Still waiting patiently! Do most students in the program receive scholarships or funding assistance besides loans? Thank you! ?

Hello! Yes, I think most of us received some sort of financial aid. During the Summer you fill out an online application with different questions that make you eligible for certain scholarships. Then, a committee reviews your application and disperses money based on need, quality of your scholarship application, and applicability towards certain scholarships. Outside of the scholarship application, the UCLA Grad division provides some sort of support but it's pretty small. There are also outside scholarships that the SON will forward to students to apply for, which is really helpful.

With regard to loans, I would say a good amount of us are taking out loans. I know about 5ish (maybe more) are still working while in the program, but I know the school is highly against this. Let me know if you have any other questions!

The radio silence is agonizing! Hoping to hear back soon. Good luck to everyone and looking forward to hearing back any day now!!

Good luck to everyone! Hopefully we hear back this Friday so we can calm down a bit. This waiting game is driving me nuts!!

Do you guys think UCLA gets more applications than UCI? UCLA's application deadline was earlier but UCI released admissions decisions earlier.

Hi! Im a MECN 2 and just wanted to pop in and say check your spam as well!!! I was waitlisted and the email from UCLA asking if I wanted to remain on the waitlist or withdraw went to my spam so I almost missed it.

Good luck to all!
