Members are discussing the application process and status updates for a New Grad RN program at UC Davis Health, specifically focusing on reference checks, interview experiences, and offers for different units like Operation Room (OR). Members are sharing their experiences with reference requests, discussing the possibility of being considered for future cohorts, and seeking advice on starting inpatient versus outpatient roles. Additionally, successful applicants are sharing information about onboarding processes and previous experience in the OR.
I'd like to start a thread to keep updated with everyone's timeline from "Application Received" to "Hired" or anything in between. I didn't see a post and wanted to start one.

Last time I checked with them, I was informed that they review applications in alphabetical order by last name. Is there anyone with a last name starting with "Sa" who has received any updates yet? Thank you!
I don't think that's the case because my last name starts with A, and it's still in review!

For anyone who has interviewed and successfully received an offer, I'd love some input on your experience and timeline.
I interviewed Friday around noon and was told the latest I would hear back with a reference request was in one week. Trying to remain hopeful. For those who interviewed, how soon did you hear back?
Hi! Do you mind sharing how your interview experience went and any tips to prepare? I get interview anxiety so bad so I would greatly appreciate it 🙂

I have been routed for further consideration.... LOL WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!
Congrats!! This is giving me hope! What unit was your preceptorship in?
I have been offered a job before at Davis and after you're routed my experience was that I received a phone call for a panel interview, then after that and my reference checks were reviewed from that survey I got an email for an offer.

For my preceptorship, I floated weekly to all ICU units, ED and OR. However, I had 3 different clinical sites throughout nursing school where I was able to rotate into the NICU and had my peds clinical rotation at a children's hospital where I was able to go to NICU, PICU and Peds unit. I have my NRP and PALS along with other certs and I volunteered at a children's hospital... I hinted at NICU and peds in my cover letter as well. I am hoping my preceptorship doesn't decide my placement because it was all adults, great critical care experience at a trauma hospital however it isn't what I want. BUT I will take a job to get my foot in the door LOL!!
Thanks for the helpful timeline, because it says routed for further consideration, does that mean I will get an interview or not 100%?

Hi, of course! This was my first panel interview and I have anxiety myself. There were actually only 3 people on the panel. It felt pretty neutral and comfortable. They seem to stick to their script in terms of the questions they have prepared (10 questions total), which consisted of behavioral/situational, and questions about the organization. Know WHY you want to work here and study their mission/model of care. Have 2-3 questions prepared for them at the end as well. Apart from that, just try to be yourself and show off your skill! I certainly wasn't perfect but I think they appreciated that I was honest.
I was interviewed last Friday, and received a reference request this morning!
If you have more questions, feel free to PM me.

Hi! Did you end up accepting the offer? Thanks!

Not sure if this helps, but I waited about 1.5 weeks after I was routed until I got a phone call. I followed up with HR and they said they can reach out to you as late as 2-3 weeks before the start date. So, they can technically reach out as late as July-August. It's definitely a waiting game, but a good sign!
I was routed to medsurg btw.
Also, if you're interested in peds, I'm curious if you tried for Shriners Hospital across the street (in Sacramento). They have a few positions open as well. I'm sure they would value your background.
