University of Calgary, January 2021

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.

I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.

Hi everyone! I just created a facebook group called “University of Calgary Nursing - January 2021?

Hey @Crystal6055

I can't seem to find the FB group? Thanks for creating one!

@Crystal6055 Just a heads up - I think the admins of this site delete any posts containing facebook links. Not sure why?

Looks like your previous post has been deleted.

Looks like I can’t post links ? and I can’t seem to find out how to make this group searchable because the group is set to as visible already- so anyone can search for it. But if you can’t find it send me a message on here and I will send you a link to the group!

It won’t let me send you a message and I can’t find the group ?

Just emailed you!

@Crystal6055Please check your inbox. I just emailed you.

I got accepted this past Monday! Degree-holder route, and I believe I applied with a 3.88 GPA. All of my documents were received in the first week of August.

Has anyone received their admission package yet? I think it might only be sent through email, not in the physical mail. I'm looking at the Health Care Provider CPR courses, and wondering when we will have orientation so I can sign up for a CPR course that's a day or two before that. Since our CPR is only valid for 12 months, I have heard that it's best to certify in the first week of January or last week of December so it doesn't expire when we're in the final weeks of practicum each Fall term.

Just sent an email! THANK YOU

Hi everyone!

I got waitlisted last week as a transfer student and I checked today and it showed this:

As your average is below the current standard for admission, your file has been placed on the waitlist until it can be determined if additional space is available.

My calculated GPA is 3.67 and I emailed admissions to clarify this. Did anyone get waitlisted too with a higher GPA?

Hey guys, congratulations to everyone who has gotten in!

I was wondering if someone could estimate my GPA. I asked on here about a month ago and following the GPA scale posted earlier, it said I had about a 3.7. My current university only uses percentages and I finished with an 82% this year. When I called UofC, they said my GPA is around 3.35, which is much lower than I expected! Does this sound correct or should I ask them to review it again? I'm very stressed and I'm probably at the very bottom of the waitlist. I feel like I have the smallest chance of getting in ?

Hey @stressedstudent this is the grading scale the UofC’s continuing education uses but maybe the nursing faculty uses something similar to convert your grades from % to the 4.0 scale?

Im surprised there is such a big difference between your calculations and the school's calculations of the GPA.  I am an international student and I am also unsure of how to convert my GPA correctly. When you calculated the GPA 3.7 did you use only the courses under the requirement list (Statistics, Arts and Biology)?
