Hello, I’m applying for the U of C degrees holder route for January 2020. Just want to say hi to other applicants. I applied on July 2nd and have not got any update on my application.

Yeah it does make sense. Thank you Sabrinar and congrats once more
Just now, sabrinar said:But I had called nursing admissions that same day in the morning and they told me to not call again and that I wouldn't hear until the end of September at the very earliest, and then I was accepted that afternoon. So I don't think general admissions (who actually calculates GPAs and reviews your file) and nursing admissions are on the same page. I got a million different answers from both and a new answer each time I talked to someone new.
OMG! Yes I am with you on that. I’ve been calling general admissions and nursing and each time I get different answers. I don’t understand anymore.
I applied for the transfer route in July and haven't heard anything yet. When I called in recently asking about the average, the lady in the nursing office had told me that they hadn't come up with a rigid GPA yet, and they wont until near the end of September. I'm feeling this just may be the case for transfer students as some people (degree holders) have been admitted already ?
Hi all, I hope this is not a stupid question to ask but I have stalked through all the pages but haven't found an answer. I have a degree in Nutrition and Food Science (graduated in 2014 from University of Alberta) and have had all the prereq needed for Nursing degree holder route. My problem is that my gpa from the latest 5 coursework + prereq is not enough for the gpa cutoff (I'm only at a 3.4). Will I be able to re-do them through Athabasca and hopefully score a high enough gpa or this is the end of my dream of a career change? ?
You can always upgrade your courses! But check with Calgary or any other university you plan to potentially go to, and make sure that the courses you want to take through Athabaska transfer to the nursing school. If they do, as long as you get a higher grade than you had in the class before, they will take the highest to give you the highest gpa.

Thank you so much!!

I graduated from U of A too in 2017 nutrition major. I had GPA around 3.5-3.6. Finger cross they will lower the cutoff this year
Hi. What a coincidence!! I don't think I will make it this coming Jan since I have several courses that need a gpa boost. I also need to confirm with the faculty what it means by "15 credits from the most recent transferable coursework". Most of my 3rd and 4th year courses are Nutr or Food science-related and I'm not sure they are "transferable". Do you have an idea by any chance?
I received my acceptance letter yesterday. I have the tentative admission sign on myuofc web page, looks like yellow tick mark. The reason for that is I have to submit the deposit of $500. My GPA was around 3.77 when I applied. To be honest, I am surprised that I received the acceptance letter this early because they are not known to do that. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck to everyone waiting for their admission status. Also the deadline to pay the $500 deposit is by October 1, 2019, which doesn't make sense for the people receiving their acceptance letters after that date. Or am I missing something?
When they talk about "transferable" courses in this scenario, it pretty much means any university approved courses. So it can be anything, for example, the last 5 courses I took (which equals to 15 credits as one half-course is worth 3 credits) were all options like music, astronomy, religion studies, archaeology and anthropology. All of these courses were GPA boosters option courses. So I do recommend to take easy option courses for your last 5 courses in order to have competitive GPA. Obviously, the other 5 pre-requisite courses are fixed, we have to take them, there are no exceptions.

Hi Jassal,
please when did you apply and when did they evaluate your transcripts? Also when did you get your check mark. I have a 3.7 and haven’t heard back from them. So I’m a little confused. Thanks and Congrats
