I don’t see many posts or threads about University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) Capstone College of Nursing. They offer FNP or PMHNP or dual degree. I am applying for their FNP program Fall 2020. Anyone else also applying? Or anyone who has gone through their program, tell me about it. Thanks!

I live in Mississippi but Tuscaloosa is one hour from my house. The instructors were very supportive. There was like 5 students assigned to one advisor/instructor. This made it easier to get in contact with the instructor when you needed help. I am about to start the DNP program at the University of Alabama in Fall 2020.
Congratulations! I start the post masters PMHNP in August. I am a bit nervous about the patho and pharm class.

What are you thoughts on patho and pharm classes?

I know this awhile ago, but I’m at UA now and wanted to find a fb page to help with studying. This link won’t work. How should I search your page to find it?

You can search UofA BSN-MSN/DNP Fall 2020 cohort. The page hasn’t had much foot traffic though. There is another FB page from a few years back that has a good amount of members.
Hello,
My experience was great! The instructors really cared about your success. I had a class of like 25 students. It was like 5 students to one instructor which made it easier to communicate with the instructor and you had their cellphone number to call/text them for quick answers. You did have to find your own preceptors. You worked hard but the instructors were very supportive. What other questions do you have?
Jmnurse09,
Thank you for replying. What semester did you start the program and when did you graduate? The reason why I ask is because the Spring admission curriculum is heavier than starting in Summer or Fall. Also, how are the classes setup? Are some classes lighter than others? Are there alot of tests and papers in each class? How are pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and assessment courses? Each semester you are taking at least 3 classes which is alot. How did you juggle it with working? Sorry for all the questions. No one has ever said too much about their program ?
I started in the Summer of 2017 and graduated Spring 2019. You have to take the classes like they are shown on the plan of study. Yes, some classes are lighter than others. Advanced Patho, Health Assessment, and Pharmacology are tough but these classes are at any university. Patho was the hardest to me. I worked full time during the program. It is doable, if I could of worked part time I would have especially when you start doing clinicals.
