I don’t see many posts or threads about University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) Capstone College of Nursing. They offer FNP or PMHNP or dual degree. I am applying for their FNP program Fall 2020. Anyone else also applying? Or anyone who has gone through their program, tell me about it. Thanks!

I am in the program. You are limited to only doing clinicals in FL, GA, MS, or TN. I think they only take 70-80 or so between the FNP, PMHNP, and Dual.
How long did it take you to receive if you were accepted or not?
They extended the deadline for my class so it was late March. It was a weird process. I kept checking my app then I saw it changed to waitlisted. I freaked. I emailed them about it and they said it means you have been conditionally accepted pending a drug screen. They told me I was suppose to get the conditional acceptance before I saw my application change. I got the acceptance letter a few hours later.
How long didi it take after the deadline for you to know if you got accepted?

Hi! I'm applying for Alabama's FNP/PMHNP program for Fall 2020.
I just completed my interview. How long did you all have to wait until you heard back about acceptance? (I got into USC FNP program, and I'm waiting to pay my deposit).
Also, overall, how has Alabama's programs been? Like I said I'm trying to decide on USC vs UA. I wonder if USC's tuition is worth it.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

You should know by late March.

I didn't do an interview for U of A but I got my acceptance in late March. I can't remember when I submitted my app. I applied to several schools.
Honestly, the first semester was tough. I made all As but it wasn't easy. Strangely, health assessment was one of the toughest classes. You have to make videos of yourself doing an assessment on someone. There are like 4 separate ones. They are long and you must be precise. Adv Patho was a beast too.
Hardest part is trying to find clinical spots. They have a list they give you of clinics and facilities that have current contracts with the college. That doesn't mean you get a spot. It just means you don't have to go through the contracting process if you can find someone willing to precept you. It's stressful doing that while school cause you are emailing and calling while doing the school work. Contracts can take anywhere from a month to 6 months. It's hard to find a spot especially for PMHNP. There simply aren't as many facilities or practices out there as compared to FNP.
I chose Alabama due to the low tuition cost and because it is a very large University with a good reputation. And well, they gave me scholarship that covers my tuition and leaves me with a lot of money left so I don't have to work full-time. Having said that, If I found a program that guaranteed me a clinical spot without me having to spend countless hours a day searching, I would pick that program over one that pays my tuition.
Thanks for the insight. I live in Orlando and Advent Health has an FNP program they find you the clinical sights. Eventhough it is more it might be wrth a second look.

I applied as well but haven’t been contacted about an interview. Was it FaceTime or phone? Did you get an email or notification ahead of time regarding when they would call? I’m getting worried I may have missed a call and with all the spam calls I get, I don’t answer unknown numbers.
