Hey All!
I have applied for Union's Spring 2014 ABSN program at Hendersonville. I submitted all of my application material on April 16 and NursingCAS finalized/"verified" & forwarded my application to Union on May 1. I am still anxiously waiting to hear something back! Are there any other applicants out there for Spring 2014? Have you heard anything back yet? Best of luck to any of you!
@huffmant- Hey Tessa. Dress code was brought up tonight & supposedly we are supposed to dress nice for class (ie- no jeans or sneakers). A few of us have no dress pants for tomorrow, so I think for orientation there will be a lot of jeans. Hopefully they will address it tomorrow though so we can all be sure of what we are expected to wear once classes start. The group that met tonight was real sweet, I think it'll be a fun group! See you tomorrow:)
Hey @peachcity42. The estimated cost of attendance is 40,000 for the 15 months, but that's also with the university adding in books, fees, living expenses etc. good luck to you!
@DRpierce sorry I'm so late on getting on this. But like we were talking about in class today.. My stafford loans hadn't shown up on my account as of 2-3 weeks ago, so I contacted financial aid. Is the stafford showing up at all on your account? Mine had originally said denied, so I completed a loan adjustment form and within a week or so my account said that the loan status was changed from denied to pending and that when the loans are received by the school on feb 11 the status will be changed to awarded. Let me know if any of that sounds like your situation.. I have been emailing Hannah Christensen and she was very helpful!
@apartridge232: thank you so much for answering my question!
Can anyone tell me the major difference between the Germantown, Jackson, and Hendersonville campuses? If accepted, I will be relocating from Atlanta, GA which will be a major change for me since I am very used to living in big cities. So, I really need your help in deciding which campus to apply for the Fall entry class. Any information about these campuses will be greatly appreciated!
@peachcity42- There really isn't much of a difference in the programs that I know of, except Hendersonville admits in both the Spring & Fall, while the other two only admit in the Fall. Coming from Atlanta, the H'ville campus would be great for you since it's just north of downtown Nashville & most of the clinicals are done in the metro Nashville area. I've lived in Nashville for a little over a year & absolutely love it here, it has everything you could need. Germantown is one of the Memphis suburbs (I think it's one of the nicer ones from what I've heard) & Jackson is a fairly small town. While we have only been through orientation, everyone at the H'ville campus seems very nice & very helpful. So far, I'd definitely recommend it! Best of luck!
@apartridge232- There isn't anything showing up for my Stafford anywhere on my account. I've sent emails & they assure me I've done everything I need to do, just odd it's not showing up anywhere & it's showing my tuition is being paid from my MedCAP loan. I know they're probably really busy, so hopefully it's just that they haven't had time to get to it yet & there aren't any issues. Thanks for another contact person, hopefully I can get it resolved before classes start! It was great meeting you, so nice to finally put a face with a name:)!
Dana- yes, you too! I'm ready to get started next week. And I guess if they've assured you that you've done anything, if something goes wrong it's not going to be your fault. I received in the mail maybe 3-4 days ago a letter showing my "extra" money or refund money from my med cap loan that I should be receiving. As far as I know my tuition is coming from the stafford and the medcap is for the additional tuition and the rest is for me (books, living expenses, etc). I wouldn't stress about it though, maybe it just hasn't been put into the system yet.
@apartridge232: again, thank you so much for answering my questions promptly!
Can you give me a range of the cost of apartments in the Hendersonville area? I welcome any suggestions for places to live that are not too far from campus. I have a car, so commuting is not a problem for me but I don't want to live so far that traffic becomes an issue on days I have to attend classes.
Best of luck! You'll have to keep us posted if you do indeed end up here!
I just spent forever finding a new apartment, so I can give you some info on what I found, but I'm probably not a ton of help. I'm pretty picky when it comes to finding apartments, so there were only a few that I liked. The only one I really liked in Hendersonville which seems to be pretty popular with ppl at Union (it's right around the corner from school) is "Aventura at Indian Lake." I think (& don't quote me on it) they range from about $900 for a 1 bedroom to $1250 for 3 bedroom. If you want to be a little more convenient to downtown Nashville, check out the town, Goodlettsville. It's about a 10 min drive to campus & still only a little over 10 miles to downtown (great central location for school & clinicals). The only apartment I liked in Goodlettsville is Preston Run Apartments. Their prices are fairly comparable to Aventura's I believe.

Have any of you received your financial aid letter from filling out your FAFSA? All that is showing up is my MedCAP loan still & it has been applied to my tuition...that was for living expenses. I was assured I would get stafford/perkins loans, but I'm getting worried since classes start next week & they're MIA.
