My interview was mostly personality based. The clinical related questions were inquiries into the kind of patients I care for, to assess acuity I assume. I was previously working at a level 2 trauma center, that does not see nearly as much acuity as the facility I now work for. They were specifically interested in my pressor use, vent experience, and specialty devices. I was asked to discuss a pressor I use in my practice, the mechanism of action/receptor site. I was asked things like "describe a difficult clinical situation" or "tell us a bout the sickest patient you had recently." Then they would ask follow up questions based on what I said. Steer the interview where you want it to go, only talk about things you are comfortable with.
I was so nervous, in fact I have never been so nervous in my life. I blanked the entire thing out immediately after, I couldn't remember what went well or what went bad. Then I spent like a week of replaying it in my head. Then a week of accepting my fate, of not getting in. Then the acceptance letter!!! I think that's normal ?
Good luck everyone ! Be yourself . The interview is very lay back . Just think why you choose Union ! Ask professors questions about the clinical rotations . Be humble and be honest in your answers. Ask students to tour you around the Cadaver labs, classrooms. Ask them about financial aids, apartments, etc... DONT’T BE QUITE. Union is just like a family I promise !
