Union University CRNA fall 2021

Published

I applied to Union University for the fall of 2021. This is my number 1 choice of program. Stats:

Total GPA: 3.61

Experience: 2.5 MSICU

Preceptorship

CCRN

Is there anyone else applying to this program for fall 2021? What are your stats? when should we expect to hear back from faculty regarding interview?

Does anyone know if everyone who applied (and qualified) got an interview, or only those who have strong applications? I’ve never heard somebody who didn’t get an interview from Union.

During my interview they mentioned around 500 candidates applied. They interview 30-40 each of the 3 rounds, so total of 120 are interviewed in total. They accept 30 students, roughly 10 from each round of interviews. They did say something about 2 spots being saved from their BSN program. They also mentioned an alternate list of 6-9 students. I don’t know if those numbers are accurate but that’s what I wrote down while I was asking them questions during my interview. Hope this helps and good luck!

@JKRenee no it is not required. But CCRN is. @Marceya Mingo when do you interview?

what about if you have not been a charge nurse will that affect your chances of getting in?

I would say yes. They’re looking for applicants who are highly involved in their unit/hospital committees, charge RNs, CCRN, and preceptors. If you have all these on your resume I’m sure you’ll at least get an interview.

Are we allowed to have pen and paper during these virtual interviews? I want to be able to write stuff down but not sure if it’s allowed or not since they can’t see what you’re writing.

The interview was pretty laid back as they were very friendly. I’m sure pen and paper would be okay. I had that and my word document close by because that’s where I typed the list of questions I had for them. I was nervous though when they started asking me about devices etc. and other questions branching off of that relating to my speciality. I was just caught off guard only because I thought it would all be personal. I was lucky I made sure to study prior. If you know your stuff and study the CCRN book I’m sure you’ll do well. Don’t bother trying to have a cheat sheet out though, it’s either you know your stuff or you don’t! Good luck!

@AspiringSRNA

Thanks for your reply. I always write things down even during job interviews. I wanted to have a few questions written down to ask them that was specific to Union and be able to write their answers down, but I didn’t know if having pen and paper would get me in trouble. I don’t want to mess anything up because Union is my number one choice. I tried to go without it in my last interview and thought I could remember what all they told me and ended up not remembering a darn thing due to nerves after the zoom session. Haha

LOL nerves are the worst! Have you interviewed for Union before or other schools? How were those interviews and what did they ask if you don’t mind me asking? I interviewed for a school in Pennsylvania and still waiting on a few other applications just to keep my options open.

@AspiringSRNAThis is my first year applying. That was with another school. Union is my number 1 choice but keeping my options open as well. That interview was very heavy on clinical questions related to cardiac and pulm since I work CVICU, a scenario type question and a few personal questions.
