UNF Summer 2020

U.S.A. Florida

Looking for anyone who is applying for Summer 2020 at UNF or has applied previously?

I currently have a 306 on the TEAS and a 3.9 pre-rec GPA. I will be retaking the TEAS to attempt to score higher, but if I do not, do you think I have a chance still to make it to interviews? Any tips will be much appreciated!

I applied for Fall 2019 and made it to interviews, but got waitlisted. I applied with a 335 on the TEAS and my GPA is only 3.6. I retook a class to raise my GPA and will be retaking to TEAS, which was suggested by Dr. Beth Dibble, who is with admissions.

I'm applying this year with around a 330 on my TEAS and unfortunately a pretty low pre-req GPA of 3.2... I do know someone last year who got in with around the same GPA and a slightly higher TEAS score though!

Hello. I am currently in the UNF nursing program, and just finished my first semester! Your prereq GPA is GREAT and above avg (avg prereq GPA were 3.7 for those admitted). Your TEAS is low and to put into perspective, the avg score for those invited to interview is 340. So I suggest you retake it. I had to retake it 3 times!! For interviews, I think you might have a chance with your current stats because of your high GPA. For interview invites, GPA and TEAS are each 50% of your total evaluation. But final evaluations: 50% for interviews, 35% for TEAS, 14% for GPA, and 1% for having an AA. So in the end, having a high TEAS score will help because it is weighted more heavily in your final ranking. Hopefully, this helped and was not too confusing. UNF nursing has a different ranking and admissions process than other universities, so it can be confusing. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! GOOD LUCK!! YOU GOT THIS!!

Hi Anatomyofnursing,

Thank you so much for responding, I am a little "starstruck";because, your post is the one I had referred to before posting myself!

I will be retesting for the third time also the 20th (Friday), do you have any tips for studying, and (if you happen to remember) did you use the same location for all three attempts (I am using FSCJ, but tested at a different FSCJ location the second time and the test seemed....very different that go around)?

Thank you again for all the information, and congratulations on getting accepted/completing your first semester!

Hi Phgator21,

That is a great TEAS score! I am retesting the 20th (Friday) for the third time, would you happen to have any tips for studying?

Thank you for replying and the best of luck along the way, we should stay in touch during this application process!

Hi Jess1022,

That is a great TEAS score, but the best of luck on your retake and your class! Would you happen to have any study tips? I am retaking the TEAS the 20th (Friday) for the third time.

Are you applying for Summer 2020 also?

I am taking the TEAS test on Thursday for a third time as well. Good luck on your test! This time around I have just been focused on the areas I didn't do as well in, I bought the TEAS Mastery app which works for me because I can practice questions wherever I am and it does a great job of explaining. I also have the ATI TEAS study manual. I am applying for the Summer term. Good luck!

Hey! Im applying for Summer 2020 as well! Your Pre-GPA is great but I'd definitely try to get your TEAs up because like @anatomyofnursing said, it plays a bigger role in the final decisions! I also made it to interviews for Fall 2019 but I got denied because my overall final points were ten under the people who got accepted and waitlisted. Dr.Dibble recommended to get a higher TEAs even though I had a 82.7%, so I'm retaking mine soon in January and I retook a prerequisite so I'm hoping those will help me! In the last interview my nerves complete took over and I knew that was the main thing that got me, but I feel more comfortable and confident now, especially if we get all an interview we could even met each other, that would be so great! :) They usually have an interview workshop for those invented so you get to meet some people and talk about the interview to get more comfortable.

Jess1020,

Thank you so much for the tips, I hope your test went amazing! Trying to keep calm myself for tomorrow. Haha

Hi Courtney!

Oh no, my nerves get to me every time, I could not even imagine! I’ve been telling myself as long as I make it to interviews I will be okay (I am not a confident person either once so ever). I’ve absolutely loved being able to chat with everyone on here even if it’s not a whole bunch of people, I know my family is beyond tired of hearing me talk about this process...haha

Congratulations on your score! If I don’t do as great as I’m hoping tomorrow I would love to study over break if you are local. I’ve had zero luck finding anyone else preparing for the TEAS either.
I was thinking the same thing too if we made it to interviews and could group up at the workshop! I went to the “allnurses” event twice and managed to not meet anyone, but there was a ton of information to take in!
I appreciate your response though and wish you the best of luck with everything coming up. ?

Sorry I am so late!! LOL don't be starstruck I was in the same position last year.

But I hope you did well on your TEAS retake! I used the yellow Mometrix TEAS book and that really helped me with TEAS science!! I used that and the ATI TEAS manual and that manual helped me with the other sections. I recommend focusing on sections that you scored lower on and go from there. Sadly with Science, you either know it or you don't just because of how broad the questions are. I took the TEAS at FSCJ and from what I experienced was that if you take the TEAS twice at the same location you have a chance of getting the same test form. But don't quote me on that! At least you get 3 chances at each FSCJ location which is very nice! Feel free to send me an individual message if you have any other questions. I don't mind helping at all!!!
