UNF Summer 2014 BSN hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone!

With the deadline only a little over a month away, I figured we all need a place to stress, hope and worry! I just took my first stab at the TEAS and hit the average score of the past few years (335). I have a 3.9 GPA. One pre-req left. Applying for ABSN. I'm scheduled for a second TEAS attempt next month. How is everyone else doing? Drooling over stats as much as I am?? Any interview preparation plans?

Have you guys seen any stats from the Summer 2013 cohort? I keep looking but I cannot seem to find them.

I am kind-of-sort-of freaking out that the audit hasn't been updated to show pre-reqs "Y", nor has my Overall GPA or Prereq GPA been updated to reflect my grades from Fall. I do see that the receive date on my transcripts has been updated; so, I know they are there.

I guess I am going to be a part of the next audit update this / next week?

No I've only seen stats on the interview invites for Summer 2013 via the Facebook. I've seen admission stats for the Fall 2013 cohort though. But idk where I saw it but I feel like I did see some sort of stats for a summer cohort! Maybe I'm imagining it... haha.

Oh my gosh haha. Well looks like we were right, that interview needs to be nearly perfect! Judging by the stats from 2012, we need over a 390!! Right now I'm trying to practice interview skills by trying to speak with my roommates in a very professional manor on a daily basis. I know what I want to say and how I feel about becoming a nurse, but to me the hard part is articulating it in the right fashion. Also, it seems that the majority of the applicants for Summer cohorts are trying for the accelerated program. Which, to be honest, really intimidates me! I'm 19 and don't have as much experience as someone with their degree and more practice interviewing. I feel like we all want this so bad, I'm hoping the interviewers will see that!

Bless your heart! I think you are going to do a great job. You're right, those of us with degrees might have more practice interviewing; however, remember that some of us graduated YEARS ago. I graduated in 2007! So, I've been out of school for a long time. At the same time, I've been at my job for 10 years (this is my 11th year!). Other than interviewing for promotions, I have never interviewed for something totally outside of anything I have ever done before. It is intimidating for me, too! And yes, the accelerated folks are applying now, but that doesn't mean they have stats that are on par with the regular track applicants. Someone applying to accelerated with a 3.6 GPA and a 329 TEAS is not going to sit quite well next to you with a 3.8 GPA and a 357 TEAS if you both do really well on the interview. So, definitely don't be intimidated yet. If an accelerated applicant doesn't make the cut in accelerated, they get thrown back in the pool with all the other regular applicants but not in front of them! Just where they shake out with them. I think you will be just fine. You can do it!!! My fingers are crossed for you! For us both!

Hep. If you're 19 I'm assuming you're not applying for the accelerated track. I assumed they would be 21+ years old because a bachelors is necessary or no?

That's good that they throw you in the regular pool if they don't accept you in the accelerated track. do i need to fill out a separate application for the regular track?

I'm more calm (but a bit nervous) about admissions. I feel that if it was meant to be it'll happen, but I know deep down that I'll get into a nursing program.

Missind33, you're right. You need a bachelor's degree to apply for the accelerated. You are automatically considered for regular track if you are eligible for accelerated, and do not need to submit a separate application.

I hear ya. I am moving into the acceptance phase of things. Really excited for and looking forward to the interview. Hopefully, I am eligible for one!

Thank you! What I liked about UNF is that their process of applying to the school and nursing program is quick. I have called USF twice and transferred to 3 departments, and on the phone for 20-30 min each time because they messed up my application. They also don't like to check their admission email account and about the half the times I call I am told to call again later because their lines are busy. Mildly annoyed.

Omg. Nightmare! Especially when you are already nervous!

And it's not nursing admissions it's the university admissions. It's so hard to talk to people at that university, and they're incredibly rude too.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm applying for the accelerated but I think it said you are automatically considered for both if you meet the requirements, right? Ideally I would like to do the accelerated for sure... I'm SO eager to get started!! And, great news, my transcripts finally made it - yay!! So now I am all set, PHEW. I was really starting to panic. Anyway, based one everyone's scores and what not, I'd say everyone here has a pretty great shot at an interview! Does anyone know when we can expect to hear about it?? Are any of you applying to UCF as well?
