Hi everyone!
With the deadline only a little over a month away, I figured we all need a place to stress, hope and worry! I just took my first stab at the TEAS and hit the average score of the past few years (335). I have a 3.9 GPA. One pre-req left. Applying for ABSN. I'm scheduled for a second TEAS attempt next month. How is everyone else doing? Drooling over stats as much as I am?? Any interview preparation plans?
Welcome Lela! :) happy everyone is joining up.
Hey have you guys read any of the patient relations threads? It's enough to make you want to run in the opposite direction. I can't figure out if these people just are in the wrong profession or if you're just kinda doomed to depression as a nurse!
I have to move where ever I get accepted too. Luckily I'm not tied down anywhere yet lol. I haven't applied to other schools yet because UNF is my first choice and other schools don't start in summer as far as I know. So if I don't get accepted after the interview I will be applying all over as well, FSU UF UCF USF etc, but I'd rather wait and save the application fees if I can help it! Can't wait to meet all of you! :)[/quote']I'm also not tied down anywhere but it will be quite a rush when we find out where we are accepted and have about a month to figure out where I'm gunna live and how I'm gunna pay for it! Anyone considering loans that also support you without having a job?
But VeeRose, the applications for UCF (summer term) and FSU (fall term) have closed. And USF that also starts summer term their application is due march 3rd.
I love FSU but I'm not getting my hopes up bc I heard they were the hardest to get into especially if they put preference to FSU students before transfers. All they look at is your resume and GPA... No teas, and no essay...
amm88, omg I know. FSU is insanely competitive. I think they only accept 30 transfers? Maybe even less.. but yeah if you don't already go to FSU and have a 4.0 it won't happen haha. I used to really have my heart set on FSU but after researching both them and UNF, I'm totally sold to come to Jacksonville!!
I live in Panama City, FL and I am pretty tied down. My husband has a great job here and we own a house. Both of our immediate families are here and I love my daughter's daycare.
I applied to FSU because it would be a reasonably easy commute. I have friends there that I could stay with if I don't feel like driving home every day. I am so nervous that I won't get in to FSU! I had not heard that they prefer FSU students. I got my bachelors there, so hopefully that helps.
I applied to UNF originally as a back up, but after visiting the campus for the TEAS, I fell in love! I have grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc that live in Jacksonville, so I think I could make it work. I would have a great support system. My husband and I are trying to make a plan. I'm not sure that it is worth it to completely relocate my family for a 16 month period of time. We know we want to settle down for good in Panama City and my husband's job is just too good to give up. We'll see!
Amm- Thanks for the info about the other schools. To be honest, I hadn't really researched any other schools yet because my heart is set on UNF. Since UNF's deadline for application is in May (I think) for Fall, I guess I just assumed that other schools would be around that time too. However if I totally bomb this interview and somehow am not accepted, for one I will be totally devastated because I really wanted to start this summer, and two I will have to just apply everywhere there is still an impending deadline.
I was in HOSA in high school and remember my teacher raving about UNF's nursing program and from what I have heard from other students as well. I went to my local state college for my AA because I had to due to scholarship contract, now I'm free to roam FL in search of my favorite nursing school. I think what sold me the most about UNF is the rock-climbing wall in the student gym, and the ropes course on campus. That is where you will find me de-stressing my way through nursing school (if I'm accepted of course). Climbing has been my favorite activity since I was big enough to put on the harness. I also like the fact that it isn't one of those huge schools, since the school I came from is relatively small. Not to mention, I surf and Jax is on the beach, on the East Coast, where there are actually waves (sometimes). It just seems right to me, and I honestly can't picture myself anywhere else.
Anyways, I read somewhere on here that the turn around after the interview is quick and that we should be checking MyWings often because we will probably see it there before we hear back from Beth, soo my question is.. does anyone know where that "acceptance" might show up on MyWings???
