I have been accepted to Watts School of Nursing for June 2010. I am waiting to hear back from UNC's 6 Semester BSN program any day now. Any advice on which school is a better option? I have a BS in Biology already. I have heard great things about both schools, but was hoping to hear from students about which school they prefer and why? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

6 month bsn program? do u have a link?
at best ur gonna get a diploma or adn from watts, a bsn is better to have for advancement, getting a job and/or higher nursing ed.
Oops - I definitely meant 6 semester BSN program, not 6 months! Thanks for the advice though about the positives to getting my bachelors degree over a diploma.

I have a previous Bachelor's degree and decided to apply to UNC's ABSN program and Duke. I decided against Watts because I wanted to go ahead and get the BSN out of the way. It seemed like it would take longer to go the Watts route and then to add the BSN portion on top of that... My pick would be UNC over Watts because of its national reputation but both options are good :)
Hope Carolina decides to let us know SOON...My goodness. I harassed them today and they said they were really trying to get the decisions out before Nov. 15. Let's Hope.
Thanks for the advice momofthreeboys! I have been hawking the mailman every day waiting to get my letter from UNC in the mail, so I'm glad to know that they probably won't send anything out until next week, even though that's really frustrating! Good luck on getting into the ABSN program - I hear it's a wonderful program. Thanks again for your insight!
Got my letter today! I got into Carolina's ABSN program!
Congratulations!!!!

i'm at unc. my husband is applying to watts. it takes longer to meet pre-reqs for unc but sounds like you met them already. program is intense. watts is very supportive, smaller school, about the same cost as UNC from what i've heard. you end up with a bachelors at UNC or a diploma from Watts. Doesn't really matter if you already have a BS though I guess. I think the minimum GPA is higher at UNC.
Thanks so much for the information! I got my acceptance to UNC last week, and I decided to go there after much thought! Which program are you in, and how intense would you say it is? Are you enjoying the program?

Go to Watts. You already have a BS so advancement won't be a problem for you. If UNC is quicker, then go to UNC, but be prepared for a ton of work in a very small amount of time. When you graduate, you won't know much about nursing either way.
