[h=1]UNC Chapel Hill 2016 MSN adult/gerontology nurse practitioner program[/h]

I received a wait list offer letter yesterday via postal. No email and no status change. I'm still praying it's in my journey to get in!

If it's not in the stars, Helloooo travel nursing and the closest beach! And I'll try again next year and try applying to several programs. I only applied to UNC. No GRE unless I absolutley have to. I don't really believe in those tests.

Thanks for the update peanutbuttersrn. I live in Cary, so I'm not sure why it's taking so long for the letter to get to me. I'd like to know my status either way.

Your acceptance letter could be taking a while :) keep hope. Nurse0719

Thank you for the support. I wish you success in your future endeavors.

Since I didn't get accepted to the RN-MSN/FNP program, I decided to spend this year finishing my BSN. I have been accepted to UNCW RN-BSN program. I start classes in June. Will reapply to BSN-DNP program in the future. I will apply to several schools this time instead of just UNC. Best of luck to everyone.

Good for you! That's great! Things happen for a reason. Shake it off and move on. I'm thinking I was wait listed at UNC since I STILL haven't hear anything. I got into another school anyway, but it would have been nice to go to UNC. I have to shake it off and move on. Good luck!

I was wait listed for the second year MSN-FNP:(!!!

Thanks for the kind words. It's been hard as I put so much effort into this, but this is life.... Another stab is the fact I worked with a nurse that had a 2.8 GPA, and honestly was not what I would consider a decent nurse, and got right into UNC for FNP. He was from Ghana. It seems they prefer foreign students for cultural diversity. I wish everyone the best in all you do. Sorry to those who have been waitlisted or denied.....I guess they want you to give them your firstborn to get in LOL....Next year I'm claiming American Indian hahahaha I'll let you know how that works out!

@kaysho,bsn I was wait listed for the PNP program and I was just wondering if you could let me know if you have any insight from getting accepted!! I have been trying my best to have patience but it is tough! They said they only accepted 10 people and there are 5 of us on the waiting list. Do you happen to know anything more?

I'm am in the process of applying do you mind sharing your credentials? Jrntmb

Sure...I have been a nurse since 1997. LPN then RN then BSN. Most of my work was in ICU until the last 5 years which have been in a locked detox/ psych facility. My BSN GPA was 3.9 and overall was lower but can't remember right off. I had some amazing "down to earth" references from some NP (both psych and family) that I work with as well as two of our psychiatrists. I applied to University of South Alabama and was denied. I applied to UNC CH and University of South Carolina and was accepted to both. I chose USC because it was voted #1 in online grad school in nation and required less travel time (have a two year old). I would of had to commute to UNC 1-2 times per week (I live in Asheville, NC). I am not sure what got me in, but I can say that my letters and my personal statement were very "real" not like the same old professional babble that you read over and over again. Hope that helps!! PS...USC has been awesome if you don't get in at UNC or are looking for another option! Good Luck!!!
