Anyone else starting University of South Carolina PMHNP MSN Summer 2016
Patho is very similar to Pham in tests and work load. I have not taken assessment till spring cause I couldn't find clinical space till then. Most sites were booked over 6 months out. So I switched a class in fall for one in spring.

UNC grad school 2016 decision
Sure...I have been a nurse since 1997. LPN then RN then BSN. Most of my work was in ICU until the last 5 years which have been in a locked detox/ psych facility. My BSN GPA was 3.9 and overall was lower but can't remember right off. I had some amazing "down to earth" references from some NP (both psych and family) that I work with as well as two of our psychiatrists. I applied to University of South Alabama and was denied. I applied to UNC CH and University of South Carolina and was accepted to both. I chose USC because it was voted #1 in online grad school in nation and required less travel time (have a two year old). I would of had to commute to UNC 1-2 times per week (I live in Asheville, NC). I am not sure what got me in, but I can say that my letters and my personal statement were very "real" not like the same old professional babble that you read over and over again. Hope that helps!! PS...USC has been awesome if you don't get in at UNC or are looking for another option! Good Luck!!!

Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017
I applied to both (havent heard from either) but with the reading that I have done of the requirements etc...I was leaning more toward the nurse corp because.....the NHSC can change the game on you. The scores on the facilities that you must work in can change and you will have to abide by the scores they require WHEN YOU GRADUATE...NOT WHEN YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT. Thats kinda scary to me that they can change the game on you. I have seen a lot of MDs on the boards have to relocate. Not all by any means but a lot. The tax thing is nice with NHSC but I think finding a job would be less stressful with NC.

Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017
There is the Nurse Corp for nurses only and NHSC for NP and MD's/ dentist etc. Both are handled by dhhs. Different application but around the same deadline. Pretty much same concept. I an NP student so I applied for both. No credit check for me so I assume Im out. It is interesting that the MD students had their check done in mid june and nobody has heard yet. I have about 10% hope left but with no credit check I am 90% sure I didnt get either. Guess its applying for loan repayment when Im done.

Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017
I have come to the conclusion there is no logic! Haha. The MDs had there credit checked on 6/14 this year and nobody has heard yet. (At least on the boards I have looked at)

Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017
Hey everyone! Reading for a while but just now posting. Waiting with the rest of you. I applied to the Nurse Corp and the NHSC. There is a MD board on another site for the NHSC. The MDs got their credit checked on 6/14 and still nobody has heard. My credit karma doesnt update until tomorrow so I am hopeful but its kinda looking like no check. Hope that I will be one of the ones like last year that didnt get credit pulled and got it. I can dream I guess....

University of South Carolina PMHNP program
It's going good. Nursing classes are pretty organized and planned well. I have 2 classes in summer which is full time and I am only working prn. Summer is very cramed in so I would limit the # of hours u take in summer. Fall should be easier. I see a lot of people dropping classes cause they have taken too much and working full time. I personally would limit my hours if u can. But I know people sometimes have to work.

I would discourage full time work. To give u an example...this summer in pharm alone I have 6 chapters a week to read and know. That does not include the case studies, tests, lectures to watch and projects. It's rough but do doable. For me...I went part time. Good luck!!

I got in. PMHNP BSN-MSN full time track. Letter/packet came in the mail. I will not be accepting offer so keep faith if you are waitlisted. I got in to University of South Carolina too and it fits better with my family (less travel etc as I have a 2 year old). Good luck and please don't give up hope. There is some way out there to accomplish your goals!!!

University of South Carolina PMHNP program
Oh for fall!! I wasn't sure if you were summer or fall. I applied to Anderson University as well but they will not admit until the summer for fall start. They are not well publicised cause its a new program there but if you are in SC might be another option!
