UNC Chapel Hill (Spring 2010) January 2010 - Anyone Receive Word?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Just checking, I posted a response in a separate thread, but thought a new thread could hold its own.

I applied to UNC Chapel Hill's Nursing Program for January 2010. BSN Program, not ABSN. Already, I have received two confirmations from students that have received acceptance yesterday into the ABSN program.

1. Has anyone received word about their acceptance into either the ABSN or BSN program?

2. Has anyone received word regarding "no offer" of acceptance? And, if so, what are your plans going forward if you did not receive an offer.

I am obviously anxious and waiting for a response. Just checking to see if anyone else is in the same boat.

Thanks and good luck, everyone! :)

hey y'all!

for those of you commuting to the area, there is a FREE park and ride lot at Southern Village up 15-501 just a little bit toward Pittsboro off of 54. There are two buses that run right through campus and they come about every 15-20 minutes, so it's pretty convenient for all schedules, and there is no park and ride permit required. Go here and look at the V and NS routes:

I hope this helps - and if you're willing to tack on a bus ride ride to your commute, you can save a few hundred bucks on a parking permit! My fiance and I live two miles from the Southern Village bus stop and I take the NS alllll the way down almost to the end to get to my office right now - I love it!

Hey Reneesuzy,

Congrats on your acceptance! Sorry to hear the news about your dad...It would be pretty ironic if a nursing school didn't view a cancer diagnosis as an extreme circumstance. I'm interested in knowing whether or not you will be able to postpone attending until May.

for everyone that hasn't heard yet.. keep me posted as i will do the same. i'm calling bright and early tomorrow!

Hey guys, good news. I called this morning and heard that the last batch of letters was sent out from the undergrad admissions office on friday. So for those of you that haven't heard we should know by wednesday!! I'm thinking this might be related to the timing of when the applications were sent in. Personally, I had sent mine very close to the deadline (I applied to the ABSN program), so I can understand why my decision letter would be sent out in the last batch. Hopefully there are a certain amount of acceptances, rejections, and waitlist decisions in each batch. Good luck to everyone!!

I'll keep everyone posted on my status, hopefully I will be joining all of you that have already been accepted!

I just got my 6 term BSN acceptance in the mail on Friday. I live in Durham. I called to find out what the clinical schedule would be in the first semester and they said there are no clinicals in the first semester. I am REALLY hoping this is true because I don't want to be away from my one year old all week. I am fine with studying all night, but I want to see him at least 2 days a week! Does anyone else know anything about when clinicals start? Anyone else with young kids?

I am doing the ABSN program (which is a lot crazier schedule) with three little kids. My mom is helping me a couple days a week and my husband is altering his work schedule to watch them too. I will miss them though! There are no clinicals first semester. Here is a link to the course schedule page in case you missed it- you can get a pretty good idea of how things are going to go.

Thanks for the tip! I've been scouring those PDFs for any clinical schedule, but can't figure it out! Can you make sense of them? I'm glad to see that there will be other people with kids and who are closer to my age.

Me too! Look at the bottom of the page and it will give you the days the clinicals and labs could be based on the course number. Until we are actually competing for the spot in a particular clinical or lab on registration day you probably won't know exactly... I don't like not knowing the schedule exactly either. Maybe we can ask that question on preorientation day!

Nice! That looks totally manageable! I signed up for the Nov 30 orientation, but we'll see if I get it. It will be nice to meet everyone and get started. I've been taking pre-reqs FOREVER.

Did you guys have to put a deposit down or just send the letter back saying we are attending? Just making sure.

No, I didn't see anything about a deposit. Did you?

LKMM,

Nope, I didn't see one. I just assumed we had to put a deposit down to reserve a seat.

NCSTATE - I actually submitted my application on the last day possible, so I'm not sure if that's the reason why the last batch was sent out last Friday.
