UNC Chapel hill ABSN 2016 !!!

Nursing Students General Students

Hey guy's. I wanted to go ahead and create a thread for everyone applying for the Absn program in 2016 at chapel hill. Please share your thoughts, concerns or anything you may want to talk about.

I feel the same! Just like OMG only 64 people that's crazy.. I'm just trying not to think about it until October because it's out of our hands. I stressed so much the first time I don't think I can do that again.

Omg me too! I'm just going to keep calm and wait. On a positive note, the Admissions Committee loves to see re-applicants

Salsera are you in NC or coming from out of state? Just curious.. glad they love re-applicants :)

In state! I graduated from UNCG and staying in the triangle for my nursing assistant job. Did you graduate from NC State, stategrl? ;)

Sure did :) If i get in (fingers crossed) i'll have to be wearing some red under the scrubs haha. I'm in the triangle too still and love it.

I also applied! My first degree was in English with Political science and education from villanova University. I graduated with a 3.7. I decided a few years back to go back to school to be a nurse. My science Pre-reqs were all As with an A- thrown in there (Micro!!); I took all of these at UNC.

I am not sure how competitive I am because I do not have medical volunteer experience. I do have a lot of other volunteer work; I have 4 children, and I do a lot for their school PTA, our church, North Carolina Science Olympiad and various other organizations....but...nothing medical.

I am trying not to think about how long the wait will be. I am a competitive long distance runner, and I have a big race (The Chicago Marathon) the week we are suppose to find out!!!

About one month left till we are notified! From previous threads they usually get their letters mid-October.. i'm just ready to know! I think any volunteer experience is a positive thing honestly.. but that's just my opinion :)

Cairber: They do put a huge emphasis on volunteering, but I think all that matters is you have volunteer experience that you have committed to long term. You sound like a great, competitive applicant to me.

Stategirl: I know! I just can't wait to hear back! I'm so ready

I told myself I would not obsess until October, but that is getting difficult!

I think we are close enough to October to begin obsessing :) Only 2 more weeks!!

It looks like, in the past, letters have gone out the week of October 15th (sometimes earlier, sometimes later?). I thought it would be earlier than that, but I guess not. ahhhhhh!!!!

Anyone else have all their eggs in one basket? I have not applied anywhere else because of location and financial concerns; I can't exactly uproot my family to go to school elsewhere. Duke is just so expensive!

I only applied to UNC as well, I live in the area and don't really have the option to move outside of the Triangle. I previously applied to Duke and decided to turn it down because it was so expensive and no aid was offered. They usually have a good scholarship but not everyone is eligible. For UNC i'm hoping letters will come out around Oct. 15th.. I don't think I can wait any longer after that!!
