UMSON Spring 2015

Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

Are you guaranteed admissions or active duty military? I ask because in the past they have heard first, and I'm wondering if I should be checking SURFS like a madwoman. Thanks for posting and congrats again!

Congrats!!! Are you saying that you started the clinical component of the nursing program at Montgomery college? If you can get a refund and can afford to attend UMSON, I would definitely go with UMSON even though Montgomery college nursing grads are the only community college students that Holy Cross Hospital will accept with a GPA above 3.5 I believe. It is very hard to get a job as a ADN. Just keep that in mind. Not impossible..but it is difficult and I can only imagine it will be much harder once you complete your program.

So I got in! I was waitlisted last semester and actually started at Montgomery College this fall. I just got my call a few minutes ago. Now I have to decide what to do...I'm grateful I got in but it's such a hard decision now!

Hi everyone,

Ive been following this thread for a while, but never got a chance to sign up and post anything. I just checked my status in surfs and it says "Admit- Institution." I am not military or anything like that and I applied to Shady Grove, so hopefully everyone else will have there decision up today!! Goodluck!

Yup. Me too. I may have played it cool, until now. But not anymore! I've checked it at least five times since yesterday afternoon. No change, as of a minute ago. I suspect that I'll be waitlisted.

afowler77 you'll get in! I'm absolutely sure of it. And I know, I started looking on SURFS frantically over the weekend when kirstens got it! (Another congrats to you, kirstens! ) I'm surprised they called on a weekend. Haha! This is so exciting! Best of luck to everyone! Oh boy, this next week is going to be a doozy!

I'm not worried...just crazy with anticipation. I'd rather know than not know! What's really making me nervous is that I haven't heard back from TU yet. I sent in my deposit last week, not knowing if I got into the university.
