UMSON Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm starting this thread in hopes of meeting other hopefuls for the Fall 2018 BSN program at University of Maryland School of Nursing. I've submitted my application, just waiting on my Official Transcript from Towson before I submit the supplemental papers for my application. I've also applied to Towson University. Feel free to share your stats as we all ride out the wait together. Good luck to everyone!

@Rb72390 oh good! Yeah, I'm sure they'll get there in time. I took mine in November, just in case I bombed it, but I got an 84.7% with a 94 National Percentile, so I was happy with that score! I bet you'll do great. The practice tests help a lot; it's definitely worth the money to use em.

A friend gave me a study guide and I'm a bit concerned because the questions seem too easy? I realize that sounds arrogant but I know so many people who got very low scores (50s and 60s) and I'm still studying regardless. It just struck me as odd based on what I'm seeing in the study guide.

@Rb72390 No, I totally get what you mean - especially in the math section. I found the math to be the easiest. Some of the reading/english questions are so easy that they're difficult because they make you second guess yourself haha. I found the science questions to be incredibly specific too, so it's easiest if you've recently taken A&P2. Besides the science section, if you've gotten decent grades and actually paid attention throughout high school and college, then you're probably set because many of the questions are super basic. Also, just verify that you have the study guide for the right version of the test. I'm really not sure how much of a difference there is between them, but I'd stick with the one you're taking!

Okay I'm glad you said that. I'll keep doing what I'm doing, then. I just took a and p and microbiology last semester so the science didn't seem too bad either.

I have found this site very helpful and encouraging. I applied to the Umson nursing fall 2018, but am just kind of concern with my stat, my gpa from two schools are 3.47 and a 2.00.I had A in A$P 1, A$P 2 C, Chem A, Micro C with a Teas score of 75%. Am so confused I want to know if I stand a chance of getting in the program.

@fuse first don't strain over that because what ever is meant to be for you will be regardless. Second I will say retake one of the C courses in your science if you can do it this semester. That is if you are done with all of your classes . Remember even though they want a good science grade they consider all the factors. In the meantime don't kill your self over it rather get busy. Is umson the only school you applied to?

I found the TEAS to be SO much easier than the study material. So as long as you study the manuals and study guides, you'll be well equipped! I am most nervous about my resume. I'm not a traditional student, I'm 30 (with a lot of babies lol) and have spent the last decade home raising my children so I literally have zero professional experience. I'm just hoping my good grades are a saving grace for me. My application status is now "Complete and Ready for Review" so here's to spending the next few months in complete anxiety mode!

I applied to Baltimore campus.

Hey everyone, I'm also applying for fall 2018. Taking my teas on the 23 and only have my prerequisite course list to turn in. I'm very nervous because my science gpa is 3.6 but my general gpa is 2.9(so sad, life situation happens) i am just hoping they take me. Also plan on applying to community college programs

Does anyone know an approximate time frame that decisions come out? My application status just changed to "Committee Ready" and it made me even more anxious, even though I'm sure it will be months from now.

Mine just changed to that too! According to past UMSON Fall threads, it seems that the first round of decisions come out in early April. I don't remember reading anyone's changing to committee ready this early though, so maybeeeee they'll come before then, but who knows! :)

Yea, I looked back to see and the switch to Committee Ready has always taken a lot longer in comparison. Maybe it's a good sign, I'd like to believe that!
