UMSON Fall 2018

Published

I'm starting this thread in hopes of meeting other hopefuls for the Fall 2018 BSN program at University of Maryland School of Nursing. I've submitted my application, just waiting on my Official Transcript from Towson before I submit the supplemental papers for my application. I've also applied to Towson University. Feel free to share your stats as we all ride out the wait together. Good luck to everyone!

I called UMSON today to ask if I could confirm my admission before I get the actual admission letter. She said that they prefer us to wait until we get our letters to confirm, especially if we're provisional admit, but she also said that the letters are being mailed out today. So we should be getting the letters really soon!

Did anyone apply to the Conway Scholarship? Do you guys know when we get to hear back from them?

From last year"s thread, it seems we will know it around July.

I received phone call today. We will have medical doses calculation test once we start class. And we need get 100 on the test, I have no idea what is that. Is anyone familiar with this calculation?

Hi! Current UMSON Shady Grove student here. The medical calculations test is usually given within your first few weeks of school. The test basically involves doing conversions between units and knowing how to calculate a dosage when you're given information about a medication. You don't need to have any in-depth knowledge about medications or anything, they just want to see that you understand the steps involved in this kind of math problem as you will use it throughout school/your career.

There are typically review sessions and resources (like powerpoints) that will be given to you leading up to it, so don't worry! And congrats on your acceptance!

I haven't gotten a phone call yet. Are you going to Baltimore or Shady Grove?

I received a call today, and they said we should get an acceptance letter in a week. Does anyone know if we have to have our complete transcript by the orientation date in June? I'm taking summer session one course, and it does not end until July 1st.

Hi Claire34, thank you for your explaination. I had no idea about medical calculation before, now I know what I need to study.

I was accepted to Shady Grove and I got a call yesterday. She went over the information in the email sent yesterday morning. Has anyone looked at the accepted student info yet? A lot of it does not have fall 2018 listed as options.

I have applied but I am still waiting as well! Does anyone know how many get picked?

When speaking to the program manager at Shady Grove I learned that they will/have offer(ed) to 74 people, knowing some will fall off before classes begin. I'm not sure about Baltimore.
