Hi all! ?
I am making this thread for all UMSON DNP candidates for Fall 2021! I'm applying to the Family NP option. Anyone else applying? Good luck to all!

I interviewed early January. Felt that during the interview there was a sense of urgency for them to persuade me into considering the 4 year track instead of the 3 year track I applied to. Did you experience that as well? Thank you! You as well ?

Yes, yes, yes! Indeed! They persuaded me to seriously consider 4-year-track saying "3 years options are usually for military nurses, and many students (3-year-option) struggled and some dropped." Two friends who told me about acceptance emails (this Monday) told me they applied to 4-year and 5-year-options.
Also, I am pretty sure they will "Call," "due to privacy issues," but it appears to me that no one actually called according to the accepted students' posts and friends. Did your interviewers also tell you that you will get notified via phone call? (I thought they would let me know via phone whether I got in or not since they told me "it's a usually a good news, so answer it." Would you mind sharing yours? Thanks so much!
I really want to sit down with a nurse who are well versed in therapeutic communication (super anxious and nervous now).
I thought it is like waiting game, but it turned out to be somewhat unfair in terms of information/acceptance release methods that are different from what they described during the interview (call vs. email) and timing of the decision release (someone who interviewed later received early decision than who had interview early in 2021).

Yes...those exact words. I am so glad I was not the only one who heard that...I was honestly so discouraged after hearing that, but I stood firm with my decision on pursuing the FNP 3 year track. I think that they have been struggling with finding clinical sites for 3 years students and probably got overwhelming amounts of applications this year so they have to be more careful with their acceptances.
I wish I could tell you but honestly that threw me off so much I did not even ask them about acceptance notification method or timeline.

I see. I am also glad that I was not the only one who was told to consider 4-year-option. I truly remember I did not tell my study plan but the interviewer broached 4-year-option first (with a mention of at least 2-hour-long driving to a clinical/practicum sites). I totally agree with your rationale and reasoning for them to be cautious regarding clinical placement. It has been a bit discouraging and disappointing but let's not lose hope! Thank you so much for sharing ?!

I think they asked us to indicate which track we are applying on our applications so maybe that is how the interviewers know. Yes, you are right! Nothing we can do about it now so... Jesus takes the wheel!

The only thing that I know of is that friends who applied to DNP-FNP Fall 2021 program (who interviewed early January) received e-mail notification (accepted) on Monday. It seems like they disseminated and announced their decision early this Monday.
