UMSON DNP Fall 2017

Published

Hi all,

I have applied to the UMSON DNP FNP program for the fall 2017. My application has been submitted since November 1st. My status as of right now says "committee ready." I am feeling pretty anxious about it :nailbiting: and was wondering if anyone else out there is in the same boat. Feel free to chime in with anything, I'm sure we can all support each other through this!

That's weird, though I'm sure if they had called and couldn't wait to leave a voicemail they would try to email so you shouldn't worry. Hope you have a good weekend and we hear something, anything Monday.

@ snowbunny217, I got the same message. Have you officially heard from the school of nursing or know what the "provisional" part means??

No. No official call or email. Which really bothers me actually.

I work with one of the faculty members who was on the interview so if shes on tonight Im going to clarify with her if it means what I thought it meant.

The program director did tell me to send my CWO transcripts over during the interview and Ive been up HR's ass about paying my fall '16 tuition so they can release my transcripts asap. But thats the only thing I can think of that would classify me as "provisional".

Previous boards mentioned this "provisional admit" status and they recieved their official letters in the mail a few weeks later... So Im not losing hope quite yet.

For those who received acceptance phone calls, have you received anything in the mail yet? Also, Has there any contact (phone, email, etc) from UMSON in the last week or so?

ChickenTenderLove, have you had your status change online yet? I'm still waiting on a status change :/ I tried calling Monday and left a message with Tracy Jones and haven't heard back.

Shannon7792, Nope. My status still says the same ole, same ole.

I received an acceptance email and one was mailed to my residence. my online status has also changed to "Institution-Admit" . For those who haven't heard back I would advise emailing the specialty director of your program or contacting those who you interviewed with. Best of luck to everyone !

I officially had my status change to "Rejected Application". Time to regroup, contact them as to what I can improve for next year, take some CWOs in the fall and hope they will take me for Fall 2018 :/ At least now I finally know! To those who got in, congratulations and hopefully I'll be seeing you soon!! And to those still waiting, good luck :)

Aww Im so sorry to hear that guys. Dont lose hope! I work with one NP who is awesome who applied to MD 3x before she got in!

I may have been drastic, but I wanted this more than anything. So this time last year when I got flat our rejected, not even an interview invitation, I went to work... hard. I quit my job at a community hospital and transferred to one of the highest acuity ICUs at the medical center. I got my CMC and CSC subcerts, and took 2 classes as CWO at UMSON. My mother in law who is a faculty DNP in the military ripped my CV and personal statements a new one and I spent a year redoing them and updating them with every new course I took. So dont give up hope!

UMSON is top 5 in the nation and is very competitive, so of course they will have a ton of qualified applicants. You just gotta do what you gotta do to get your name on the top of their lists. Good luck for next Fall!!!

That's all really great advice and super helpful. You're so right. What CWO courses did you take by the way?!

I took Biostat and Pathophysiology.

Thank you so much!
