UMSON CNL Spring 2017

U.S.A. Maryland

Hey everyone!

Just got confirmation that my application is complete and ready to roll for the UMD CNL Spring 2017 application term. Anyone else on here applying?

Good luck to everyone interviewing today!

Who did your interview? I had a BSN professor. Which I found odd. I had a question that couldn't be really answered.

I didn't ask/get told what group she teaches? Just that she is a professor. I feel okay about it, but not awesome. I could talk about myself, but felt a little jumbled and tired after studying over the weekend for an exam this morning. Everyone was very nice though.

I had Dr. Cook. She's a BSN teacher.

I thought I did okay as well. Guess we will find out soon. I was told six weeks to find out. Hopefully sooner!

Okay, yes, I had her too. They told me six weeks as well. That's good to know since I need one more class for another program I'm looking at so I can decide then not to register if I get into UMSON. Glad it's done!

Was there just one interviewer?

Sheena Jackson was in the room as well. She seemed distracted during my interview. But she asked me only one question and she answered some of the questions I had.

I called today and they said hopefully 2-3 weeks for a decision! Last week when I called to make sure all my files were received I was told September..

My status just switched to committee ready too. So nervous! Just curious, what are other peoples' backgrounds? I'm worried that I'm too non-traditional with my bachelor of fine arts. My GPA in the prereqs is a 4.0 (so far) though, and my undergrad GPA was 3.8ish, so I'm hopeful they can see past my art background?

Does anyone know acceptance rates for the program or how many seats there are? Anyone else on here local to Baltimore?

I felt my interview went well--I felt moderately articulate, got a couple of chuckles, and made great eye contact. However, in hindsight I wish I would have remembered to talk more about goals. The woman that interviewed me was an educator for both BSN and CNL. Ms. J. was there as well and she advised that her role was to mostly take notes and answer any CNL-specific questions.

I asked if they received a good turn-out for this round and Ms. J. advised that it's still very early in the process but they expect to take 50 people. Does that feel smaller than the last few cohorts? I feel like it does. She also noted that it would take 6 weeks to make a decision. I have a theory, but I don't want to posit it here because, jinx. However, if you go back and look at the interview email request and do the math regarding the number of time slots offered...well, you'll see what I'm thinking.

@BmoreHealthy - I am an Arts major as well! It does not matter. They want the diversity. They do not want all science majors. I was told that in the information session. I asked because having an art degree made me nervous as well.

Your GPAs are much better than mine too.

@erinwhit

Yay I'm not alone haha! What kind of art? Did you apply anywhere else? I applied to Hopkins too but my GRE quantitative score wasn't fantastic so I don't have high hopes..
